not enough power to drive all four wheels if you ask me. You'd be better off with an R32 if you can afford one.

cant really afford an r32 or an s3.
there is loads of 4mo's for 7k
where as you are paying more than double that for an r32.

besides you can remap the 4 mo to within a knats whisker of the r32 anyway.

4Motion and R32 is night and day in terms of a driving machine! I like the 4Motion, it's great at what it's made for, which is cruising along effortlessly(sp?)and in comfort, wether at 5mph or 105mph without too much stress, but a sports car it is not. The Engine has great flexibility pulling smoothly from idle all the way to the red line in 4th gear, and it has a nice V6 soundtrack aswell.

My dad has had one from new and it goes next month when his A4 arrives.

I thought it seemed fast 3 years ago when he got it but now i have my car it seems quite boring tbh.

The suspension is really soft so uprated stuff would be a must if you ask me.

Is quite a easy car to drive though. Dont need to change gear to often.

thats is what attracts me to it, it looks like a standard golf but goes considerably better than one. i also like the idea of 4wd and as im about to buy a house i wont be spending a great deal on it (which i would have to on a 1.8t to get the same performance). Its either one of these or an a3 quattro 180, i prefere the v6 though.

Quite a luxurious wee thing, but with a pokey boot and not enough oomph IMO.

the 4mo as standard needs some adjusting, (just like the S3) but it's a joy to drive and sounds even better. Handling is good as well, just need a decent set of coilovers. Check out Formoshun.com

But surely there isn't much scope for remapping it's non-turbo engine?

my freind had one, the good side its come with alot of options. the bad side it will cost you alot to modify it and its kinda hard to find aftermarket parts.

I wouldn't say hard, probably just as hard as the S3. They've had V6 golfs for a while so there's enough parts, and it uses a lot of the same parts as the R32. I'd agree to the fact that it's a non turbo, but that can be sorted out with fitting one or a supercharger, nice big V6 power with a kick, can't get much better?

a charged one would be nice, especially with no exterior mods :)
