    Awesome build thread :D

What was the drama with paypal? I recovered some money from a guy not long ago who ordered an engine and payed by paypal but paypal gave the buyer the money back! Buyer tried to keep it too :asskicking:

never had my phone with me to get some pictures :-(

My mate was giving Stacey plenty of credit on how the engine looks and how well everything was coverd up and protected so thanks Stacey :)

Bit of a update on the car been in the garage for a few hours helping my mate(passing stuff lol)

    Old engine after removal

At the start of the swap over

New engine with new mtm manifold and recently refurbed k26 turbo and wastegate good job I got the manifold from Stacey as mine had a few cracks nothing serious but would have only got worse,we also has to swap the hot sides of the turbos as the egt port on mine had welded up as my ecu doesn't have egt but the k26 from Stacey's had a open port for the egt so we just swapped the hot sides over

Where we got to before we had enough for the night

We found a few hoses that had perished mainly under the inlet manifold and due to this everything was a oily mess.back at it tomorrow so hoping to get it back in the car and running providing everything goes ok fingers crossed

Was back at it for most of the day today and opened up the old engine to see the damage and looks like it been a proper job

After finishing swapping bits over it was ready to go in the car

    Engine in the car

The downpipe from Stacey seems to be a lot better fit clearance wise as before it was lucky if it was 1mm from the prop but now it's about 5mm

Also wondering if anyone can tell me if the n75 is plumbed in correctly..left is the turbo intake pipe, right is the wastegate and bottom is the turbo

Yeh use small port gasket for now.

You could port the mani to largeport if you wanted, couple hours work

will the gasket be ok at full chat tho as not wanting it breaking where it over hangs the large port ?,as I'm hoping that if all goes well I can maybe do some logs on Monday to see the score with fuelling and see if I have gained any g/s with a turbo with less mileage on it or is this a bad idea as the new engine has a slightly different compression ratio and a large port head

The small gasket should be ok on the large port. If you look in the contents page on page one of my thread I think there's a link to where I ported out my Badger 5 phenolic gasket.

I ran a small port mani on a largeport head with no transition for a few montgs with no issues

Remember to crank it lots to get oil flowing before you run it ;)

Glad to see its coming together :)

    No worries mate :)

Either gasket should be fine to be honest mate although I would preferably go with a largeport one as wouldnt have any have any excess gasket over the ports

Although everything is in effect run in I would still not go mad at first and drop the oil after a few miles ;)

its just the excess gasket that's worrying me as if it brakes I'm up **** creak again.

yeah sound mate,if we can get the subframe on again and engine fired up today I will be happy and get some mileage done threw the week

Started up sounds a bit noisy but my mates hoping its because the lifters have been empty so letting it idle for 10 mins and see how it goes

Well the noise never went away after leaving it to idle for a bit it sounds like this

    http://i712.photobucket.com/albums/ww126/GOUBO1/72f15bc1e8982abc31967b833a0c5440.mp4

we took the rocker cover off and checked the cam chain tensioner and cam timing and all was spot on,dropped the sump and everything looked good as well.started to have a check around the top end and came across this

    http://i712.photobucket.com/albums/ww126/GOUBO1/2eafd859e91ef70111e1b01325099389.mp4

My mate says this lifter needs changed but could this be causing this noise ??

fairplay to stacey he's been very helpfull with this and my mate says that the work that he can see that Stacey's done is bang on and also says that there is no real way to test the lifters until its in the car and pressure built up so can't fault stacey for this

im pretty gutted as I thought the car would have been running now but I suppose these things are part and parcel with this sort of stuff

May have a sticky lifter... have see that before when an engine has been left a while... normally goes once warm or once its had a chance to heatsoak and get oiled

Lifters on these engines are pretty robust...

get a gauge on the oil pressure.. Confirm its got decent pressure...
Thats the first thing I would be doing.

hydro followers need pressure to pump up..
not to say the follower has gone wrong, it can happen, but never yet seen it on a 20v come thru here tho.
