    Hi guys,
Just about to make an offer on a 1999 s3, noticed that the gear knob does not return to centre when in neutral, is this an easy/cheap fix?
    Thanks in advance

Firstly try greasing the gear linkage - on top of the gear box to the right hand side of the engine.

    Looks like this -

Use spray grease on both of the ball and socket joints and give it a good working.

If that doesn't work - new linkage. That will be the side to side linkage rather than the gear throw linkage.

I'd say it's a bargain, good condition 100k, only this and a scratch on bumper wrong. 3.5k

Was about to say the same, unless you are getting it mega cheap, then leave it!!

But that sounds cheap enough and the fix sounds easy enough as well...

    Happy days...

    get some pics up :)
