Gearbox Gone?

Hi all, was driving home today, was round the corner and noticed the car wouldn't engage 1st or 2nd.

I can select the gears fine, stick just feels very loose in them. I can select all other gears fine but 1 and 2 don't engage. No strange noise came from the gearbox no grinding nothing....

What could it be?

Not 100% sure if this issues affects your gearbox but there is a problem with gearbox selectors failing, particularly the 1/2 selector.
The parts are secured with a rivet and this fails. Ed China famously fixed an Audi TT with 50p worth of parts on Wheeler dealers.
he had to take the gearbox out of the car, dismantle it and make a tool to do the job but he did fix it.
