The gearbox in my A4 has become noisy and has been leaking oil (the 2 are linked I think! :-( ) so I have acquired a low-mileage gearbox that the local garage (VW/Audi/Merc/BMW specialists) that I use will fit for me in a few weeks time.... Now, as my car has covered 193K on the original clutch it seemed to make sense to fit a new clutch whilst they were swapping boxes over.... The garage want to fit a new dual-mass flywheel at the same time as a matter of course, something which I'm reluctant to do if it doesn't really need doing, hence this post? The clutch has always been a bit juddery on my car at low speeds, reversing etc, but hasn't got any worse really in the 5 years and 80k miles that I've had it. I intend to keep the car for another few years as I love it so much , so what do you guys reckon, replace the whole lot or wait and see what they discover when the old clutch is removed? Would be grateful for any advice, thanks!
