I'm looking for a good garage to do a rebuild for me. I live in Bangor Northern Ireland and was hopeing that some one on here was also from here and could recommend a garage. Other wise it looks like a trip over to badger 5. Also i was told that i should get a egu head for the build? I currently have a amk engine.
Thanks

You mean Agu? That depends on what turbo route you going with the build

Yeah sorry that's what i meant a agu head. My final goal is about 350-370hp. I was going with the k04 hybrid turbo package badger 5 has. Would my amk head be up to that or do i need to change it? I will have other internals changed to have a reliable engine before the hybrid turbo goes on.

I'd keep your small port amk head but get it rebuilt the large port is better for 450+ And not suited to hybrids also small port is better for low end revs

As TJ said above stick with small port head but whilst rebuilding it you might also want to consider upgrading valve springs and fitting inconel exhaust valves for durability

Thanks for the advice. Ill just stick with my amk head. Im getting gold cat cam springs, inconel exhaust valves and inlet valves and a few more parts aswell. I just didnt want to get all these parts and then be told i should have changed the head but thanks for clearing that up.

I'm in Northern Ireland and would love to know of a local specialist as well. I wanted a custom map on mine, but couldn't find anyone here that I'd trust with doing it right, so I settled for a generic Revo.

I know if I was doing a rebuild I'd probably just book it in with Badger 5 and make a trip out of it.

Momentum Motorsport in Lisburn though would be someone local I'd be tempted to try. They always have some nice projects around them.

I'd love to see how well yours go once it's done.

Given the popularity of rallying, hill climbing and motorbike racing in NI, there must be a wealth of knowledge and experience over there.
I've just googled engine builders in NI and there's quite a lot.
Go and visit some, find out what they're involved with, whether they have experience with building high power turbo charged engines.

I have looked superkarl but they all say yeah we can do the work but i dont want to be the tester for them doing it as i cannt seem to find anyone that has that kind of work done and can say whos good. Where abouts in Northern Ireland are you from? I will be posting it up here on how the rebuild goes.
Feck_on_a_stick.
I got a remap done by autotune he was good at doing the map and told me he could have got more but my fuel pump was not up to it. That's what put me in the course of a rebuild. I wouldn't let him near my engine ive heard he's only good for remapping.

I know what you mean mate.. Was in a similar situation.. I wanted my engine rebuilt with rods but didn't know anyone and was struggling to find someone who I could trust. Theres two machine shops in my town but predominantly they rebuild heads and recons turbos..

when I chatted to the bloke who rebuilt my head he basically said he wasn't interested in Rebuilding engines although theyve done a few in the past but he was more interested in supplying recon engines.

I decided to have a bash myself. With my machine shop doing the head work all I had to do was swap the rods out and all the info you need is online. Everything you need to know is literally on the Internet..

I wouldn't want to try it myself. I want to leave it to a garage so i know it all done proper. I could probably strip it done but i think id struggle getting all back together properly and safely. As said uve asked a few places and they have said they could do it but when I've saked how many they have done some have said pretty cheekily that there mechanics and a engine rebuild is a mechanics job. Doesn't really fill me with confidence to leave it with them.

How in depth a rebuild do you want.? What's the mileage? Is it just a rods and rings assuming everything else checks out.

They would probably do it with the engine in situ. Save a fortune on labour that way.

Im wanting to get rods, rings, valves, valve guides cam springs, oil pump, water pump, timing belt and tensioner the badger 5 hybrid turbo package,3" down pipe, sports cat, fuel pump, bosch 550cc injectors, catch can fitted and anything else that might need replaced. Thats why i want someone i can trust to do the work and a good remap after.

If getting all that done the cost of traveling to bill isn't much

Thats what im beginning think that i might have to do as he has done a lot of bigger builds and every one says how good his work is and that's really what im looking. Only thing that im not sure on. Will Bill be able to map it after the new parts go on or will i have to run the parts in and then go back again for him to map it?

Bill builds AND maps his projects and tends to run things in on the dyno, so this is something he could do for you so you don't have to return

Basically Bills garage is like Tej's from fast and furious, only less down with the kids. Drive in drive out. He could probably check the car isn't 'hot' and remove police trackers
