Made a similar mistake myself a couple of years back when I bought some big 8 pot Brembos which looked the same as the RS6 ones. They were less than half the price and looked immaculate... but they were radially mounted.

    D'oh!

This wasn't just a visual similarity though, it was written in black and white that it's the same!

    They are the same calipers...

    Its the carrier thats different.

MK4 golf GTI uses 288mm disk, the same as the 1.8T A4.

    Aaaaaaaaaaand finally....

    Comprising of..

    1.8T calipers (£20)
Golf 4Motion Brackets (£100 with calipers - will sell the calipers off)
    Refurb on above (£150)
    Brakeworld A4/Passat 312mm discs (£12.99 on ebay!)
    Ferodo DS2500 Pads (£115 trade)

So most likely in the end will be a £250-300 conversion.. the pedal feel is considerably nicer.. done about 500 miles on them so far and haven't had chance to do the 'big squeeze' bedding-in due to a faulty ABS pump and poor weather!!

Just a note.. if you're doing this upgrade from a non turbo 1.6 or 1.8, you will need the 1.8T brake line/hose bracket assembly to go with the 1.8T+ calipers, alternatively make up custom lines that go from the bracket to the caliper (these calipers use a flexible hose from the car to a bracket on the caliper, and then a rigid line into the caliper itself).

Looking good. I think your wheels need a wash :p

Pull the ABS fuse to bed them in?
