    Hi

    My car 2001 S3 210bhp.

I had the yellow engine warning light come up on my dash last week. I ran Vag.com and this was the fault

    Address 01: Engine
    Controller: 8N0 906 018 J
    Component: 1.8L R4/5VT 0004
    Coding: 10710
    Shop #: WSC 01236
    WAUZZZ8LZ11000460 AUZ7Z0A1825361
    1 Fault Found:
17536 - Fuel Trim; Bank 1 (Mult): System too Lean
    P1128 - 35-00 - -
    Readiness: 0000 0000

I cleared it and it came back 3 days later.

The car seems a wee bit lumpy when sitting at say 40 in 4th. I.e its slighly surging. Barely noticable, but as the driver and with the yellow warning light there i notice it.

    So...what i am asking is..

Does anyone know if this Is a MAF fault or one of the other sensors?
If it were summer i'd happily tinker around under the bonnet, but being sub zero i'd like to get a spare part and fit it before my fingers fell off /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    Cheers in advance

My guess would be either low fuel pressure or a faulty pre cat lambda probe.

    Cheers HTC

Excuse some daft questions coming up!! I had a clio 1.4 for 9 years prior to this, so everthing cost a fiver to replace and just popped off and popped on! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Low Fuel Pressure? Would that be the pump on its way out?

Pre cat Lambda probe - i assume this is an easy replacement?

If its chucking error codes, and it IS the MAF, cleaning it wont help as its too far gone!

Im not saying it IS the MAF... But its a likely cause. Best get the codes checked.
