Front tweeters - are they for your dog?

OK, strange title but it seems like hardly any sound comes from the small tweeters above the door handles. Turning the treble up full and everything else down and placing my ear next to one of them reveals that some sound does come from them but it's really only the very top end of high hats etc and it's not what I would call loud. I have a 2002 S3 with Bose, is this normal?

Yep the tweeters don't do an awful lot, just add some detail at the high end.

Yeah I found on my standard set up they did very little. Upgrading to a quality set of aftermarket comps changes the characteristics completely.
