It's the Cupra R unit which you can buy from Seat from around £20-£25 and you would have to custom fit it your self which may involve a little trimming.

since youve done one before, i need to pick your brains.
ive got a cab and would like to fit the cupra r splitter but i dont know if your aware but the cab front bumper seems to be more rounded under than the saloon,do you think there is enough to play with, judging this by what you had to trim off, to make this sit flat/straight on a more rounded front.
hope you get what i mean mate.
i know 25 quid isnt alot and i suppose i could just get one and see but your help / advise would be great.

I never fitted one on yet although I do have one.

What you need to do is put it up to the bumper with help and look to see where you would need to trim to get it to fit.

You might find it may need a little help with a heat guy or a V cut out at a tight bend but unlikely.

These splitter have been fitted to loads of car other than VAG and even to a RS4 B5 and that’s quite curvy if anything the squarer B6 Saloon would be harder.

    cheers doc,
i was more concernd about the curve from the lower grill to the bottom of the bumper/undertray if you know what i mean, not side to side.
worried about looking at it straight on and it and it not looking level with the road, ie pointing upwards due to the curve of the bumper.
are they very plyable without heating ie easy to snap, do they fade to nothing at the ends?
    cheers mate
have you started your new project yet, sorry to read about your last one.

I get what you saying 1Wheel and yeah the bumpers do look more round towards the bottom, best bet is get your mate round and test fit it.
The one I looked at ages ago seemed pretty rubbery and flexible therefore easier to twist and bend.
Im hopefully going to fit mine this week....
Aint seen one on a reiger bumper yet i dont think, bet the Audizine'ers have though somewhere.

    nice one rich
really sits nice on the b7,i dont think im going to get the same results on mine due to how the bumper rolls under, you have a nice flat bottom base to start with.
    top job mate looks great.
i saw your post on the photoshop youve started, asked if youd have a go at mine?

I really don't see the interest in this Cupra R splitter. It doesn't seem to fit any Audi I've seen it on. Best left to the VWs.

Ok, I thought about B5s and A/S3s after I posted that, so I'll revise my comment. I don't think they look good on B6s or B7s. They look ok on a USP/S-Line, but **** on a stock front. And it just doesn't look right on a B7 in my opinion. It's like it's not wide enough and then looks funny at the edges near the corners. I suppose if it were mounted a bit more forward on that silver B7? Either way, just not my cup of tea. If you look around a bit, you can find a nice carbon fiber one for 100 quid or so. Keep an eye on Ebay.

yep - if you're worried about understeer at the kinda speeds where that might have a difference, then I'm concerned for you and the speeds you're driving at.... personally I think 150mph* is a sensible maximum and you ought to just stick to that!

*Yes, I know, the B6 won't get to that, but the Golf used to do it and probably still would... if you've got the balls and are stupid enough to drive that speed in a 13 year old convertible... those airfields don't have enough run-off for me to risk it these days, too much sense of self preservation:icon_thumright:

I blame Top Gear for my questions.

I was watching a re-run last night where they modified the Renault Avantime. They mentioned the 24 hour race they did in the diesel 3 series and said how the front splitter lost them 2 seconds a lap when it broke.

    Now they weren't doing 150+mph @ silverstone in a diesel 3 series.

So surely a good front splitter would help on a 1.8T B6 ??

    I said 150mph maximum... :notme:

You'd start getting noticable downforce / lift from anything aerofoil-related from about 40mph and more significantly from about 55mph up, but the splitter we're talking about are 95% cosmetic...

What you're talking about on proper tracks cars (i.e. the Top Gear 24hr race) are PROPER front splitters - usually noticable because they have the little adjustable bolts front and back to take the load and so they can be tweaked to control the downforce/drag effects.... just 'cos it's got some bolts holding it on, doesn't mean it's actually there to transfer any significant downforce to the rest of the vehicle.

Additionally - if you have a car that's setup for a tight track, they will have presumably sacrificed a bit of top speed for as much downforce as possible so they'd keep traction through the corners.... if you have that setup for the front and rear and then the front one breaks, you'd probably be better off ripping the rear one off too since although you'd still have plenty of traction at the rear for accellerating, the car will be losing traction at the front end (brakes and steering), so it'd be like cornering in a hotrod :D

okay - this is NOT the best example (a bit too chav-tastic), but this is the sort of thing that might have a noticable effect to understeer:

    or this:

and here's the "under the skin" look at the proper front splitters:

note how that might look like a little front plastic lip, but it runs pretty deep under the car....

the ones for most Audi's will look pretty but make "2/10th's of bugger-all" difference in terms of going around a 50mph corner any faster.

and remember - that has to be offset by a corresponding downforce on the rear - the same if you want the same handling characteristics or slightly less if you want a little more oversteer / less understeer.... think about Clarkson's Top Gear rant about the Jaguar XK-somthing convertible with the centre brake light on the boot lid that had to be a certain height, so the kick on the boot lid gave too much downforce and made the car undrivable at high speed (all the downforce at the rear, none at the front)... this was effectively what happened with the 330d: if had some downforce front and rear and then when they removed the front downforce, it was only the rear left with any traction....

    Thanks lostbok for the posts.

So basically I'd need some real serious kit and modifications to have a front splitter that actually does something ?

I was hoping that one off the Cupra R would have been a great investment for the money. Oh well.
