Front end noise

    Hi all new on here went to buy an Audi a4 2.0t Quattro 2005 today when lifted bonnet up looked were the belts were and there was a rattle the bloke said it the vv timing it's ok he said any info would be nice it's done 80000

    I seem to recall reading that the 2.0T is quite a rattly engine.

    The 2.0t is a rattly engine but there's a common problem with the timing chain tensioner. just done the job on mine a few weeks ago

    Is it a big job it's like one was rackleing away

    It can be :) depends if everything goes o.k.
    I had a hell of a job to take the camshaft adjuster bolt off, bolt very tight, prone to rounding and an arse to get at if it rounds.

    Mines the same always has been, ive just recently posted a similar question as to wether its compulsary to change it.

    or a case of just deal with it lol.
