that looks like the retaining piece which the undertray under the steering wheel would clip into m8

it looks like a bit that goes round where the steering wheel can be unlocked to go up and down...

hmmm just had a look and still can't find its home. Can you guys take a picture of where you mean?

I looked on the steering adjustment column but cant see where it would go.

I found it on ETKA, but not exactly sure where it goes! :uhm:
It's listed as an insulating piece which fits between the dashboard and the mounting bracket on the crossmember. It seems to be in the middle at the top, so in theory, if you take off the cental air vent (demister) you may see where it fits.

    Good luck!

I need to go & have a look in my dash mate as I swear I've seen this part before, I'm wondering if its a cable/loom plastic part that has them all taped onto, given there's a fat loom that goes across the dash cross member, it could be this thats come loose even though they're taped very well so almost impossible, it could also be a retainer for the dash, I'll go peak in morning or later when I have chance, just sorting some vagcom purchases out.

ha well i've tried to have a look above the driver foot rest plate - thats the only hole i can find hat goes up to where EKTA says the part belongs. I cant see where it would have come from, but that does make sense as i found the piece right by the driver foot rest, which is where it would land if falling from behind the center console.

Also tried to get the windscreen vents off and no joy - grrr everything on Audi is so hard to take apart. Any luck NHN?
