Do the electric folding mirrors fold with the remote locking or is it using the mirror controls inside?

Both. You can use the switch to fold them manually or you can set them to fold automatically. If on auto then they fold when you lock the car and unfold when you start the ignition.

Nice! Think I'll need to add them on to my order.

Are the options set in the MMI?

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. It's not something I'm to worried about though.

It's in the MMI car settings menu somewhere - can't remember off the top of my head but can have a look for you if you like? :)

I will wait until I get the car (tomorrow) and take a look, I'm sure I can set it up now I know it is possible! I'll be sure to ask if I get stuck! ;)

The folding just does exactly that, the 4 way movement is a seperate feed altogether.

So along with electric folding, the auto dip when reverising is a seperate option? or standard?

The folding is seperate from the mirror movement, so effectively its possible on non folding, but you'd have to check if the dipping is only possible on memory mirrors or on standard 4 way electrics with no memory feature.

It may also be a case of the reversing relies on mirror part that only comes with the folding mechanics anyway, so there's a few variables to check as audi arent that kind at times.

The brochure only mentions the kerb dipping function as part of the folding mirrors option so I guess you don't get it otherwise.

I was about to say that lol, but yes you need to research mirror types to see if it relies on sensors within mirrors or just a timing based dipping system.

It's triggered by the position of the window switch and whether you're in reverse gear, so nothing in the mirror itself. Don't see any technical reason why it couldn't work without folding mirrors as all it needs in the mirror assembly is the standard adjustment motor.

Well yes the reverse gear was an obvious requirement lol, but of course the mirror needs 4 way to be able to utilise the system in the 1st place, but to return it to the position before, it must use 1 system to know previous position as such, either microswitch/sensor based location or it has a timer based circuit, possibly a combo of both.
