    Hi folks.

Have decided to install the Parrot MKi9200 Bluetooth Handsfreeto my RNS-E system after much deliberation. On rummaging around the net I would have thought it would be straight forward however any tips or advice would be very welcome before I venture forth. Otherwise Halfords charge £24.99 which I must admist is not bad!

    Cheers,...

I can't help you with the self-install, I'm afraid, but what I would say is that if you do decide to pay someone to fit it, don't whatever you do go to Halfords. Go to a proper independent specialist ICE fitter.

Cheers for the advice Jeff. I can understand your reluctance with Halfords!!!!! Decision based on £150 fitting from a specialist and £24.99 at Halfords. Big difference!

I know, and there's a reason for that. Ever heard the expression "buy cheap, buy twice"? You'll pay Halfords £24.99 to do it bady, then pay a specialist £150 to re-do it properly.

I was told by numerous places that the MKI 9200 wont work properly in our A4's because they are not compatible with the amp that truns the rear speakers so any music you listen to through it will only come through the fronts.

I had this kit fitted to my Mk1 TT and had to get an expensive loom to allow it to work with the Audi setup. I would contact a company called Justcarkits, the bloke knows his stuff. I still have the loom if ya need one, it cost all together about £100- 150. I no longer need it so will be happy to sell it on. Pm me if u need it

Just read your post again, actually you would be better off just buying the OEM Bluetooth module for your RNS-E. And just sell the Parrot kit.

    Cheers Itsmeagain.

Have been in touch with a few specialist installers and the information varies enormously! However yes I need the cable to convert the rear speakers to audio and best price fitted is £287 fitted all in. However phoned them yesterday to book the car in and the guy will come to my home. Guess what, still waiting to hear... Will give him till 5pm tomorrow then find someone else.

I run an HTC phone which has absolutly rubbish battery life so with the Parrott I can leave in in the glove box plugged in the USB on charge use the bluetooth for music and phone. Audi plug in not sure you can use USB plus this is still cheaper!

Cheers for the offer of the cable and if needed will certainly PM you. Did you fit the kit yourself to your TT?

I got mine fitted from Justcarkits, I drove to there premises and the bloke fitted it. Top bloke. The lead that I have enables it all to work thru the audi amp.
