Fitting new oil pump

    Hi people going to take my sump off and give it a good clean and put a new pick up pipe on with a new oil pump but my question is would you change the chain and tensioner as well I don't even know if it possible to do this with just the sump off any help would be much appreciated

    You need to remove the crank pulley and remove the front crank seal to gain access to the chain and tensioner... you would need a new crank bolt too... they are a complete arse to remove in the car...

    changing the chain and tensioner is a massive pain, it goes up round the crank so involves a lot of dismantling, more hassle than its worth unless obviously it has a problem.
