Fitting B6 seats into B5

Hi chaps a good buddy of mine has a B5 2.5tdi Quattro and he has been told the seats from a B6 will fit and work ok. Is this correct? I have my doubts regarding plugging the electrics in and not getting any issues with airbags etc.

I believe they are mechanically completely different in terms of fitment.

The B6 seats have seperate rails and bolt into the floor. The B5 rails are part of the bodyshell and the seat slides into the rails.

That's what I thought plus wouldn't there be an issue with airbags? Thanks.

No the airbags would likely be fine, might need to splice in the correct plug or whatever but they would almost certainly be fine.
