Hi,

My a4 avant is coming up for its first service. It's done 18,000 and is 18 months old. I have been given a cost of £335 for the service. I presuming this is a major service. Does this seem ok?

Thanks

That's oil filter, pollen filter, sump plug, oil and screen wash bud.

Go to a local vat registered garage near by. Get a quote on paper for same things with genuine parts and get Audi to price match.

My first service cost £145 and I supplied oil.

Defo stay in the dealer network. The fixed price servicing is cheap and they will price match any garage up to 5 miles away

Well this is new information for me, why I love these forums :)
I need to get a service done at an Audi dealer this year for the Diesel Recall, been dreading the price sting but feel less worried now.. calling Mr Clutch for comparitive quote :p

My dealer will be charging me £286 to keep my warranty. Apparently they will also do an oil change within that price so I guess I should be grateful :)

You don't have to have your car serviced at a main dealer to keep the warranty. As long as it is serviced using approved parts which will be the case at a VAG specialist then the warranty will be good.

My own VAG specialist admits that that is only true for the first 2 years. The 3rd year warranty is not a manufacturer warranty.

Hi Guys

Called this morning into Bristol Audi for the same service that they quoted me £401.... Tried not to gulp to loudly on the phone.

I'll go through the process of requesting a quote from somewhere else... Has anyone else had this service at a better price from other Audi garages?

Has anyone used Bristol Audi and have any tricks to get the price down?

Thanks

M

My First Service was £204.32 all inclusive from Audi in Yorkshire. Which seemed a good deal.
Your price sounds more for a major service. Don't pay more than around £300 mark.

You could also ask for a quote to supply own oil and then pickup some Quantum Longlife III off eBay - it's exactly the same stuff the dealers will be using anyway. There are always some offers on at Opie or ECP if you'd prefer a brand like Castrol but given Quantum is made by VAG themselves, it kind of speaks for itself :)

For reference mine came to £258.84 (incl VAT) in the end. Pre-VAT oil was £95.20, filter etc. £15.20 and labour £105.30. I watched the tech at work through the window and he seemed to do a good inspection and worked on the car for nearly an hour. That's Audi Basingstoke in Hampshire so I'd expect the labour rate to be on the high side.

Mine was £160 at York Audi.

That was with a price match from a local indy VAG place.

Did they need to see evidence of the price match? Thanks
