Hi guys I'm new to this site and hopefully someone will put this to bed with me as I keep getting told different things.
I've got a 2007 3.2 Audi TT manual with traction light on perminamt, it's been plugged in and fault is haldex issue. Just been to my local gearbox place and he informs me that these are coded and you can't just fit another second hand one ?? Although I've seen on other sites people have and the issue has been sorted. My other issue is if this is true, it looks like mine has been off recently as the one on has yellow paint on like you get on second hand parts from a breakers yard so may not be original. Audi want over £2500 . I've then been told you can get an upgrade to this part for £500-£600 so I have no idea what to do or where to go.
Any help would be great.

Yes you can fit a second hand haldex controller as long as it's the correct gen (gen2 I believe yours will be) and it will probably need a bit of coding with vcds, but should still work without. However it could also be the haldex pump that is faulty or something else. You really need to know what the fault code is that it brings up

I can get a second hand one for around £300 but didn't want to waste money if it wasn't that. Most the second hand ones I've seen have a same code but end in L not F?
Any recommendations around Yorkshire to take it?

Have a look on the vcds map or ask for members locally who can scan it for you.
I'm in Bradford and can do it but there is probably someone closer

Any members close to Doncaster? Can the scanners determine exactly what is at fault ie-heldex pump? As I've been to a vag specialist who is ment to be **** hot and it just said haldex fault??? He also said he has never seen one go faulty although it seems to be common from the research I've done
