Finally done my B7 complete front end conversion

never been on any other more local vag tuning forums to be honest so i should probably start there i guess, was a late night last night. the yank lads just seem to implement components that work real well that we don't get over here because their manafacture base is strictly usa only and the bits don't come over to europe, injectors, turbo units, but i'm sure local suppliers can do just as good a job. cheers for the link scots, i'll hav to keep track of this link for when i've saved up abit!! flippin money, keeps sproutin legs and jumpin out my wallet!

no mate, that was the idea of puttin a b7 front on, i love the rear of the b6 compared to v b7, so in my mind i got the best of both worlds!

Ok so I'm the one who's not so keen then...

Think you've done a grand job, but think the B6 front is fine as it is, TBH. The money spent could have gione on the wheels/remap, but it's your car and your money.

Would say though you seem to have done a very professional job.

So although it's not for me, it's a 'thumbs up' all the same !

:)

i no its not everyones cuppa tea mate, but i had the bits on v side and had a few days free so thort why not get it done! can always do other bits later.

I think you stand a greater chance of a good return on your time and money if you do the rear end before you sell it. If you sell it as a B6 that has been upgraded with B7 parts people will think they are getting a little extra for they're money and although mods put the majority of people off - you could do well on the forums..

But, to sell the car with a B7 front end and a B6 rear end will just put people right off.. Seems strange to me anyhow!

All in all, cracking job mind - Nice work!

I would def do the rear end though, even if your not thinking of selling it for some time!

I must admit i like the b6 better than the b7, I hate the b7 rear end and the headlights, but kinda like the single cell grille.

I guess its a case of "vive la differance" eh? :)

I see what your saying, but in fairness the car is not a B7, and never will be. So even if you do the rear as well the first buyer will look at it and straight away know its not a B7! So personally I don't think whether its a B6 or B7 rear end will effect resale.

And lets be honest, how many of us ever get money back on the resale value for the time and money we spend on our cars? As Howdy said, he got the bits cheap, time is free (ish!) and he did it cos he likes the B7 front but not the B7 rear :respekt: I agree with that theory! But I think I prefer the B6 front to the B7 so wont be hacking the front off my wings just yet!!:undwech:

have to agree, and if u wanted to get ur cash back on mods you would have gone to the pub instead of spending !

aye and its still a cracking motor at the end of the day, well done to you mate.

Try telling Awsome GTI that ? They're after £22k for their B6 1.8QT Avant with the Apr Stage III+ (340bhp), with c70k miles and on an '02 plate ?!

sorry for delay lads, had one of those never ending courses this week!! yeah i appreciate evryone has their own taste and i'm not a hater of either front end, i just prefer the headlights and everything on the b7, didn't really take into consideration the re-sale value coz i don't plan on sellin it any time soon and when i do i'll have probably spent 3 times what i'd get back for it so the cosmetic appearance of it wont really be the main cause of me losing out on cash. i've always modded every car i've had to the spec and appearance to how i want it to be and altho this new car is abit more prestigious than corsas, novas, rs turbo'd escorts and fiestas and the occasional 406 coupe, it wasn't gonna scare me makin it how i liked it. and i loved doin it, yeah the wings were serios brown trousers time that i could of done without but i'm pleased i did it, and i'm really pleased you guys love it on the whole and respect everyones views on what they like and the consideration of resale value is a valid point worth made i guess to some, just not me! so thanks again lads.

yes mate, i hear thats the best way to go for now, shant worry about the turbo till next year, i might look into what revo has to offer me this week;

OMG, and to think I worry about getting the tyre pressures right and taking off a wheel to check the brakes!!

That, my friend, is a ****** excellent job.

Absolute balls of steel to take an angle grinder to a perfectly good looking B6...!

The workmanship and the filling out that "small" gap between the bumper and the cut-off wing is superb! Take my hat of to you. I don't have the balls start splicing the wires on my Bose amp!!

Grande Cajones, mate, Grande Cajones!

cheers lads, if its what you love doin then its worth doin properly aint it! Now i just gotta worry about the performance!

Well just to bring this from the dead and say what a great job you did, by the way the US have a great forum called audizine.com and theres a few BT cars on there.

really mixed feelings about that.... more around the complete B7 look, rather than how slick the finished article looks (which is V V professional!).

And yes, agreed: serious gonads to do that!

As much as I really like the split ""big grill" look of the B7, I still have real reservations about the shape of the B7 headlights and the the B7 fog light surrounds... maybe I should jsut get an A6? i'm really getting the feeling I'm jsut turning my B6 into a "baby A6"....

Must say, top top job me old son :applaus:

I was never a fan of the B7 when they first came out but it grew on me, but the work on that is fantastic.
I work with panel beaters and i know how perfect that job would have to have been or it would've went tits up, top marks to you, look forward to seeing it when you do other stuff to it. :respekt:

Looks like a top job, im thinking of doing this with my avant. What parts are actually needed to do the conversion???

Great Job!!! I love it....

I will make the same question... what part I will need?

yeah I flew across to see what was happening, seems your gaining some respect now mate, lol - especially after that chapter n Verse you gave them.haha, classic!!!

cheeky git!! yeah, funnily enough the PMers haven't stuck owt positive on the thread tho, strange that!!

hi there, anyone know where i can get a 2001 s line front and rear bumper?

I think s-line only started in 2004..
Makes me laugh seeing all the 01/02 plate A4's out there with s-line badges!

as per normal im late into a thread again,

you know what, i was just sat in Audi's Main dealer car park in Northampton the other day looking at a B7 and asking myself what the difference really was, i cam up with changed front and rear lights designs, The car is basiclly the same thing otherwise, I was sat there asking myself how could such a mod be done, but you have gone and done all the things i could think of to the front of the car, i was in the change the whole front wings camp rather than chopping you old ones, but hey each to there own and i would assume your way was best in the end or you would have just unbolted the old ones and had done with it,

i give you
10 out of 10 for having the balls to do it,
10 out of 10 for the end result
10 out of 10 for showing us your hard work as i know of some Audi nutters who would slate you for doing such a thing,

I would rate you even more if you had the balls to do the rear of the car next! :respekt:

If you change the whole wing the lines about 2inches from the top don't matach from the door to the wing - there is a more prominent line on a B7

yeah, what chas said! i'll be round your way in a couple of weeks actually turk so you might even see it in the flesh! altho northampton is a big place, i got me a speeding course to go to.............must grumble..........but as for the rear end, nah, i dont think so, still prefer the b6 bum!!

Hey quattro, thanks again for this post and all your help! Just wanted to say the car looks awsome and that you were a great help for my own conversion. Gonna start a thread when I am finished so Ill let you know how it turns out!
Began working on the car, seems like I needed both the rebar and slam panel. Had to cut a little to get it fit! But I will let you know as promised the final product! Thanks for your help again, the tips were more than helpful and I greatly appreciated it!

not a problem mate, will be great to finally see another conversion done! i've had over 70 pm's from people saying they are doing the same thing and as you know i'm always keen to see and hear how they and yourself get on, but your the first thats given me any tangible feedback on how your getting on!! so all the best mate!

nice one mate, love the conversion... defo with u on the b6 bum tho i am not a fan of the rear end of the b7. but fantastic job! once i get my car back i might think of doing the same conversion ..... thats if the missus lets me take an angle grinder to it!

its like having a whole new car!!! looks sweet. The one thing i don't like with the B7 vs. B6 is how narrow the B7's look in comparison to our cars. Now you have the great looks and wider stance. i'd like to get the RS4 mesh B7 grill and mesh side grills too. Great job!!!

thanks shaz mate, just send her away for a spa weekend and she'll be none the wiser!! and thanks dr.b, are you on 'zine too, just noticed you're from over the pond. if you are have you seen that lad who's practically put a full rs4 shell around his b6 1.9d?!? now that takes guts!! although i'm not sold on the colour!!
