Hi,

Got a problem with the radiator cooling fans on my 1.8t - sometimes they start cutting in and out every few seconds, even when the engine is not hot. Noticed it as it was making the headlights blip as they cut in. Any idea what could be causing this?

Help much appreciated.
J.

There is a fan switch in the side of the radiator that senses the temp of the rad and tells the fan when to cut in. Sounds like you might need one of these.

Thanks guys. I did a bit of searching about and found an excellent thread about this by andymac et al on a VGolf website at http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/thread/449470.aspx
Followed the tests earlier today and sure enough, it's the low speed fan resistors that have blown, so I'm driving around with the aircon off. Bit unsure whether to buy new fans (£59 each on GSF) or go for a mod to fix it....I'll post when it's sorted. Anyone else had this? J.
