Fan problem on the S3

[RS-S3]

Hi guys,

Hoping someone will be able to shed some light on the problem im having with my car. The fan seems to turn on straight away and stays on for a good 5/10mins once i've stopped driving even when its a very short run....

The temperature on the gauge also is very slow to come up...assuming its related....

any ideas why this is and what i need to do to fix it?
I've had it like this for a while....could this have been detrimental to the car in the long run?

Have you got the ac on cause the fans start automatically when its on. This happens on my dads golf mkIV gttdi
