Factory front mount intercooler?

That's for an 8P not an 8L... no 8L had a factory front mount

<tuffty/>

There was a factory front mount on the Golf and Leon PD150's of the same age so in theory one could be made to fit quite easily. There isnt much info on them and there are no images in ETKA to look at, but it does exist. Part number is 1J0145803H, and it was a forerunner to the now standard VAG method of sticking the intercooler in the rad pack.

Sorry bud, but that is a simply put a bad idea. It is common knowledge that the standard PD150 intercooler is just about good enough for a 150bhp diesel, putting it on a 1.8t is just outright silly.

Your best bet is to just get one of these - FMIC AUDI A3 1.8T TURBO INTERCOOLER KIT 2.5" 1996-2003 | eBay

They are a great little bit of kit, they fit very well and they are a tried and tested product that will do the job up to 250bhp.

If you have a dig around I've seen brand new ones still in their boxes go for £150.

Here's some pictures of my old one all fitted up -

I wasnt suggesting its a good idea, just that there is one.

I have a 130pd TDI, I was looking to see how this intercooler was fitted, as I cant see a front mount fitting nicely on it. S3 petrol turbo pipework starts and finished in different places.
I guess i got excited but the add is wrong then.

Next option, reverse the inlet manifold on the engine :D

Thanks, tufty, I always to forget to do signitures!
The ebay add i linked was listed as all derv variations of the 8L not s3 etc.

Basicly looking to do a solid pipe conversion, im getting crazy boost leaking noises, but want to run the shortest pipework possible as always, and looking for factory fit options at the same time.

hmm new sig wont show...

oops there it is !
