And car looks sooo much better! [IMG]

I'm pretty happy with the results, and only took me about 2.5 hours to do.

For the wiring, i did it slightly different to everyone else. On the old units, the socket on the back of the headlight is removable, along with the bulb wiring... So decided to remove this from the headlamp, and modified this with the new plugs to fit the new units, therefore meaning that the original loom in the car remained untouched, and meant i could work on it inside out of the cold! i'm happy with the results...Just going to wait for it to get dark to setup the alignment!

    Looks f***'in ace! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bravo.gif

Now I'm usually not into moding some thing that works already, but I'm seriously thinking about a set of these lights now.

I've had me car for a while now and chopping the inner wing somehow doesn't seem as scary anymore.

Good tip for the wiring. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ok.gif

Thanks, yeah its worth doing. Also, these dont come with motorised adjusters...However, the fitting IS there, so you can put them in if you wish to! Cutting the wing was a easy job with an angle grinder...took about 5 mins per side.. Not hard at all!

Looking Good Rich /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif, did you retain the uprated bulbs you had with the old headlamps, and can you let me know what direction to turn the adjusters to raise the lights - thanks

yes rich - it does look fookin ace man! very tempted to follow myself (again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif) lol I had some xenons and the kit all ready to fit, though sold them on for other things /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I like the second pic best and them wheels really set the car off IMO, and they look much better now they are 'bedded in' a bit - so to speak. Quite aggressive.

As jojo says, are you fitting your old bulbs? Whatever happened to the retro xenon kit?
Keep us posted with any condenstaion on the insides as others have found.

    Good stuff!

I kept the PIAA's, but they are now my main beam, not dipped... Just bought some cheap £20 philips bulbs fir dipped for the time being until i decide what to do...May go for another HID kit.

My old ID kit, one of the ballasts went... But they were exposed to the elements a little so probably what caused it.

get out there and wash it right now mr! heh - mine's the same...think everyone's is. very hard to keep em clean at the mo.

If the PIAA's were so good - why bother back with the retro fit? Or is there still a very noticeable difference?

PIAA's are as close to xenon as you will get! But, for brightness, you just cant beat the real thing!

looks great Rich! very nice indeed.

i think i did the same thing with the wiring - i now have 2 useless headlights where i took out the wiring, but the wiring in the car is all neat with the old round connector.

Worst part for me is driving by the car wash... it's always like, "should I go through?" ... "But it's not good for the paint." ... "But she's so friggin DIRTY!" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Etc., etc. Luckily, I argue with myself long enough that I'm past before arriving at a decision /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Rich, (or anyone else really) - once fitted, does the DIS throw a 'bulb out' warning for no integrated fog lamps?

    Cheers

Cool. Yeah, some fogs might look good, but you might not want to overcrowd the front of the car - it looks great as it is. Putting the fogs, might make it look more like a standard S3? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

When testing the units, did you just require 2 wires, one hooked to the battery live, and one earthed to some bodywork. Then simply hook up the earth and 'dab' the live on the bulb connections, testing the bulbs?

    Cheers.

It could never look like a standard S3... Bumper is too different!

I didnt test them,,,Just wired them up how it needed to be, and worked first time. As i didnt touch the vehicle wiring at all, there was no reason for them not to work. Only wire i had to test was mainbeam/fog as its an H4, to get the correct wire for the mainbeam in the new ones.
