Is this pretty straightforward? double din symphony into a single din prefacelift? It would be everything including aircon controlls etc. Just an idea just now but i miss having the cup holder like in my a4 and there is a full facelift double din setup for sale near me.

You need the double din cage which houses the headunit and climate controls. You just need to swap the cages and re-install everything.

Can anybody confirm if its just a case of plugging in the new stuff where the old was? I would be getting the whole console with everything that is in it to swap over. Its a double din symphony 6cd head unit so will that just plug in the same as my current concert one and the climate controlls the same?

I dont think the heater controls are quite plug and play mate, facelifts run with the aircon on all the time unless turned off were as the prefacelifts only have it on when you turn it on.

I have tried looking but doesnt seem to be too much info on this swap. It would smarten up the dash loads and i would have a cup holder. Miss that a lot! I dont even know if the symphony headunit will just plug in and work ok.

I haven't got round to doing any more research yet but if do I'll keep it posted

I've done it swap for 2din cage with navi. I had it prefacelift before but coz audi is not doing 2din cages for prefacelifts then I swap everything for a facelift model. That including new housing, 2din cage, hazard switch, cup holder, esp switch, climate control, ashtray and some pins and sockets, centre tunnel and gearknob.

But if you want to stay with prelift then start looking for housing and 2din cage from Seat LEON then is P&P.

Now if it is Symphony 1 then it works with no probs. But if it is Symphony 2 or 3 then you need can converter, unless your car is running on can already.

But If you decide to swap everything for facelift model then it is not strightforward job. The worse is Climate control - lots of electrical issues. Then ashtray - two different socket which have to be swapped.

Sounds like too much hassle for me for the sake of a decent cup holder.
