does the lower half of the front bumper from a facelift A3 fit a 1998 A3 and do the 1 piece facelift headlights fit a 98 A3

Not sure about the headlights, but the lower half of the front A3 facelift bumper will fit the pre-facelift models.

If you're trying to fit an S3 bumper however, you will need to either modify it to fit or buy the wings and S3 bumper as the S3 is slightly wider and the arches are flared.

the headlights require a small section of the wing to be cut away... try searching on here, because i remember someone took pics as they did the conversion.

as for the bumper - the late-spec front lower section can be bought from www.vagparts.co.uk for about £200 or so... they do a kit which has everything you need.

alternatively, try to find a rear-ended etc late-spec A3 at a breakers, and buy the whole bumper and get it re-sprayed - prob work out to be a bit more expensive, but the grill is slightly larger on the late-spec A3s.
