and ya'll had to part with your loved B5's...:blownose: what do you think you'd go for. You have limited funds, say 5k and you can sell the B5 privately or trade it?

I've been asking myself this question a lot recently. I keep coming up with 'Another A4 B5'(but in better nick:slapped:) or a B6.... Possibly venturing over to VWs? Just curious.

Gotta agree with Bimmerchop... I'd go for an E36 M3 as well. You can pick up some beauties for that kinda money.

E36's all rot, so that wouldn't fare anywhere on my list tbh.

Mate of mine drove up and down the country looking to buy one, many cars viewed and they were all starting to rot. He eventually found a 1997 R Reg model that had been garaged for years, and even that had a bubble forming in the rear arch. The money one that mint fetches would get you an S4, which is a much more modern car.

To replace the A4, with ~5k, i'd be looking at something with Quattro and preferably an Avant. As a daily driver it would need to be good on fuel, so an S4 or similar sillyness would be out. Perhaps a B5 1.8TQS Avant, or a B6 1.8TQS Avant depending on what came up.

If i had to leave the Audi stable it would be a hard one. There isnt really any other manufacturer that ticks the right boxes. I'd really like a 4wd car next, Scoobys and Evo's have the completely wrong image, Skylines are silly on petrol, although might be an option i guess if Audi was completely out, assuming i could find one for the budget. There really isnt anything else on the market?

I for one agree with aragorn, although I love the E36 BMW image it really is a shocking car for rot. Seen my brothers rot and that was in a garage most of the time too. So to leave the Audi market and go looking at another maker is kinda hard, the Audi`s reliability and build quality and especially the interior is hard to beat I reckon. If I had 5k I`d look for a Audi A4 avant especially when I require the space with having 2 kids, seen a 3.0TDI Quattro Avant the other week on autotrader for 5k and it was in mint condition. If not an Audi I`d possibly go for a VW Golf 1.9 GT TDI 150bhp, they are quick and good fuel economy.

Very hard choice if I was to leave the B5 scene as the newer Audi's dont do much for me unless it was an S5 or a B7 RS4 which dont fall in to the £5k catagory lol there is always old school Audi's though ;)
I think I would maybe go for either a Skyline GTR or an Escort Cossie or go very old school with a kick, like a Mk1 or Mk2 Escort with Hayabusa engine :)

as I have the 1.8tqs I spent 12 months looking for I would struggle not to get another!!

I would probably go for an old school range rover (mid 80's) and buy a second hand Ducati Monster to go with it!

There really isn't much I'd want!

I want an S4, but seein as that's a b5, i suppose it doesnt count in this.

I think it'd probably have to be a Supra twin turbo. Gorgeous cars in my opinion!

A Monaro would deffinately be on the cards too, if they came down in price! (with a huge straight through exhaust).. naturally!:p

Actually... thinking about it... maybe a little old man image, but an MG ZT 260 would set you back very little! and a very nice sound! RWD! NICE! or a rover 600ti, Vitesse sport, 200vi, 200 coupe tomcat... huge amount of money left too! ..... maybe that 'not much' has turned to be alot! lol!

I've had two Audi Coupes... a '96 8v and a '94 V6 - both were stunning vehicles. Wish I'd got pictures of them to show you.
