Have been watching this and waiting for a while, now I can update my Iphone to the latest iOS and re-jailbreak it.
If you're already JB'd on a previous iOS, it may be better to wait a day or two before updating, as Cydia servers are getting hammered. I can't even get in to Manage my account.
If i wasnt on a dongle id make another mirror... ah well good things to those who wait
Saw this yesterday...
Is it worth jailbreaking on the IP5? I did it on my old iPhone 4 and it was pretty cool!
It depends on the need for a jailbreak. If its for themes and such like then yes also there are a lot of tweaks that can be done also to make the iPhone more personal. Then you have the free apps.
A jailbreak frees the iPhone from Apple's limitations & allows the phone's full capability to be used! the drawback is that some smarter apps (i.e: Barclay's Mobile Banking) will no longer work once JB'd, and some tweaks will use more battery life than Apple would like.
I JB because it means I can mirror my phone screen to my Pioneer stereo's touch screen, add widgets to notification centre, add notifications to the lockscreen, remove apps that Apple won't usually let me from the home screen, etc. Music Controls Pro means the O\H can control her iPod music from her standard VW car stereo buttons instead of having to use the phone's screen, Infinifolders removes the 12 app limit on folders and allows as many in any folder as you wish.
The list of useful tweaks is endless and addictive, to the point that you can do too much and cause problems, meaning sometimes you have to restore to standard from back up & start again from scratch.
Worth it? Some can't live without their jailbreak, but I think Apple are slowly beefing up iOS to the point that JB's will eventually become obsolete - not yet though.
Can this work from the 5.1.1 jailbreak which im currently running? Im not sure I want to go through the stress of re-jb'ing ha
It's a easy job to do update to iOS 6.1 via itunes not over the air then create a backup via iTunes or iCloud then close iTunes run jailbreak program and that's it you don't need to do anything. If you are already jail broke then there are apps in cydia that can save all your repos and settings do this first that way it's just a reinstall of everything.
This always annoyed me on my IP4. Do you know an app on there that will do it?
Search cydia for backup and lots come up just pick what one suits your needs. I now tend to just keep a copy of my repos in a note Doc on the phone and any packages I install to. It's a pain sometimes but some of the packages I was using are now built into iOS
Coool - Thanks!
Gonna do this later I think! One thing I did read on REdmondpie was that you shouldn't update to 6.1 OTA. When the 6.1 came out this is how I updated it. Any idea why this would make any difference? Anybody updated OTA and then JB?
The iOS is slightly different if you update OTA as to using iTunes it just means you can't go back to a previous version of iOS 6.x once you upgrade beyond 6.1 but if you have a iPhone 4S there is an update for it ios6.1.1 and as far is I have seen it has been jail broke using the latest version 1.3. This iOS 6.1.1 is only iPhone 4S its is ment to fix 3G problems.
Well I gave it a punt and it all went well which is great. Just looking for some decent sources / tweaks now
Well I have updated from 4.3.3 (jail broken) I can't live without a jailbreak as there are so many mods you can do. I can't say much about iOS 6 but I would of preferred 5.1.1 as you have maps and the proper YouTube app. I never saved my shsh files so I'm gutted. Also there is a limited support on ios6 at the moment. Recommended tweaks
Five icon switcher
Iconoisam or however you spell it
Safari download manager
Here is some info on the latest jailbreak.
An update to let Jailbreakers know that iOS 6.1.3 Beta 2 is said to fix some of the vulnerabilities used to JB! so if you want to stay jailbroken, Do Not update to 6.1.3 when it's released.
If im on 6.1.2 on iphone 5 can i jailbreak?
is there any where I can download the evasion program WITHOUT all the other pap that seems piggy backed on to it, delta toolbar and the rest
yes! but don't go beyond 6.1.2 unless it's been confirmed to work with 6.1.3
iClarified has always been a good place to download unmolested Apple files.
Has anyone noticed a large reduction in battery life since they jail broke their Idevice.
I updated iOS to 6.1.2 as soon as it came out and was told the jailbreak works but I was finding that by 5pm I only had about 30% battery left so I took it off last night and reset to a unjailbroke iPhone4s and I have 60% left just now and I have not used my phone any less than normal.
Anyone else had this.
Well I have had it running for around 2 weeks now on my iPhone 5 and not really noticed any difference in battery performance.
Annoying thing only is that I can't use my Barclays banking app!
