ESP and power steering light

Apologies if this has been asked before!

i just swapped my battery for a new one on my 09 A3 sportback 2.0 tdi and when I turned the ignition on I have both the above mentioned lights on,is this a common thing,have I done something wrong changing the battery and what the easiest way to get them cleared? Tried dash commander that I use on my scoob and it showed no codes.

any help much appreciated.

Probably need VCDS to reset steering angle sensor, could try turning lock to lock and see if resets. Have you driven it yet?

Take it for a drive they will clear ,try going lock to lock aswell so the angle picks up on the wheel position

Same happened to me, a couple of minutes drive along the motorway cleared them all.

Same fault tried lock to lock but did not work,only started cos my battery was flat,fitted new battery but still have the alarm
