Where do you find your engine number?

I have a pic! Took me ages to find mine, and its an absolute c**t to find once the engine is installed in the car!

Its on that machined flat, which is on the nearside of the engine block, between cylinders 3 and 4. The only way you can actually read it with the engine fitted, is to remove the "Z" pipe (which attaches to that big hole you can see in the pic), which then allows you to get to the machined flat and clean it up. Numbers quite difficult to read as its stamped with dots. The manual says you can see it by looking down thru the inlet runners on 3 and 4, but i can only imagine this would only be possible on a new shiney engine block, not an old rusty one.

The V5 matches the actual engine number? If so that'd be much easier as it looks like a right pain in the @ss to view properly on the block.

I've declared all of the mods for insurance but I need the engine number too to complete the paperwork.
