As marked by the arrow in the above picture, what's that part? (Pinched image from google)

On my A3, this part doesnt securely lock into place so it's in place with duct tape atm!

Really would like to know what is !

    Thanks in advance

Isn't it just the air intake meeting the front-vent part? I don't think it needs to be tight on, mine just "sits over" without any securing on my 2.0t

    Another picture (Stolen from google)

Without the duct tape securing it in place, it never just "sits on top" scared of losing it somewhere in the engine bay.

It is the air intake. The top ia actualy a cover which secures with clips. Take a good look at it and you should see them. You just have to push it in place and will clip.

Just ordered a replacement cover from Midland VW as the clips had been snapped by the previous owner on mine! £4.30 bargain!

Air intake and it does need to be tight because if its not there the air isnt getting into your turbo which causes turbo to over heat and shaft to snap ! Ive been there and its happened to me lol trust me
