What are people's thoughts on the EGR valve? Have you blanked it off? Coded it out? And why?
Would it be better for the engine life and performance to have it removed?

Shark Performance want £172 to blank and code out.
Any thoughts?

It recirculates the exhaust gasses from the exhaust manifold so the car is breathing it's own soot , this robs a turbo of an earlier spool and boost pressure .

The soot combined with the oil vapour from the crankcase vent system coats a horrible mess inside the egr valve and inlet manifold.

Your engine oil also stays cleaner for longer with it blanked off.

Interesting. Would it affect the MOT emissions? I was thinking of also getting rid of the DPF on mine, but read somewhere it might be checked as part of future MOT rules so would be interested in the EGR mod.

Under which circumstances does the EGR open? Which combination of variables on the map?

if this is the case then why do car manufactures not blank them in the first place
