Wasn't sure what to title the topic!

Only my second post, so Hi all, I love all your A3's and can't wait to get my own!!!

I am looking to buy an A3 TDi sport, can afford about £7K so am thinking a 53 - 04 audi. I found one that I liked, paid the deposit, then the day before I was going to collect it, the garage called to say the EML came on the EGR valve needs replacing, which they shall fix. By the looks of it, this is fairly common? Now as it is being fitted with a new one, should this be good for another 80K miles or if that has gone, will something else start failing also?

The car has done 84K miles, so I understand there may be problems with it.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks

    Matty

I would like to say that it would last another 80k but I wouldn't bank on it. The next thing that is more and likely to fail is the turbo. Are you intending to do high mileage?

If it's standard i'd be extremely surprised if the turbo didn't last well over 130k.
