Hello,

I was wondering if it's possible to clone a ECU chip by reading it and burning the information onto a new, blank chip.

If so; what hardware and software would be suitable to do this?

I'm specifically interested in doing this to an AGU model ecu... so i understand the chip will need to be out of the ECU first.

Thanks in advance.

Why do you need to clone an ECU is the first question?

Flashing most AGU ecu's is possible with MPPS. Some older ecu's will need to have the chip removed and a new chip written to and soldered in.

To read a tune off any of the ecu's the chip needs physically removing to be read. They can't be read like new cars through the OBD port.

If the ECU has been flashed by a tuner you may not be able to read the flash anyway if its encrypted to protect the tuners intellectual property.

If you just need to use a new ECU because you fried one, you can solve the immobiliser problem by getting vagtacho which gives you the immo code. Then you need VCDS to put the code in.
Or you can remove the Immo all together, thats another chip that needs removing and writing too and soldering in.
