Chaps i have searched high and low (search button and FAQs) for a definitive difference between the above two models.....can anyone give me a conclusive list

I am looking to upgrade for an early 09 plate S3, the main criteria being angel light version which i beleive is the full facelift. Now i know when they facelifted the 8L there were several versions over the 18 month introduction which ended up with old bits being mixed with new parts and finally a full FL version - is this the case with the 8P.

By and large what will the MY11 model have over an early 09 FL car - and is it worth paying an extra 5k for the privilege.

    many thanks as always

    Tim

no youll get the parts cheaper new and fitted, afaik all the differences are a protected ecu, an rnse with a gloss screen, different button trims under the rns, alloy mirror switches, non dumbo mirrors and gloss apillars

that's a shame....... i have actually compared a couple of pictures since and seen the error of my ways, the rear FL are all the same as you say.....

next job...test drive, as i want check out the auto's versus the manuals...been hanging about on this side for a while now and spotted a few talking about the launch control etc.... always taken a dim 'boring' view on auto's but willing to give this a try

dsg/stronic is the way to go imho, I've been a manual gearbox since 17, now 36, but dsg for 2-3 years, absolutely love it, less stress, no constant pissing with pedals as such, changes lightning quick, for me cant fault it tbh atm.

cheers mate, much appreciated....... will post up how i get on.

I forgot how enjoyable it was buying an S3, everyone assumes their car has every concievable extra when in reality they 'by and large' have a standard car.

given the choice matey i would go for a dsg/s-tronic in a heartbeat i drive them often in work and love the smoothness of the changes esp the noise on the 2.0tfsi engines form the exhaust

Once you have a DSG you won't go back, trust me. All the advantages of an auto with literally none of the drawbacks.

    It changes quicker
You have pretty much a full manual override (which is changed to a full manual override with a gearbox map)
    It's faster 0 - 62
    It's consistent
    It's more fuel efficient (apparently)

Provided that the internal combustion engine is the primary mode of transport for the forseeable future DSG will replace manuals and autos i think.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but they aren't called Angel Lights, correct? Angel lights have 'halo' shapes. These are called Fairy Lights I believe.

    :)

i think the correct term is 'daytime running lights' ;)

I can see what you guys are saying about the DSG, i've driven a few DSG cars in the past but nothing that spirited, ie TDi Octavias, Insignia etc. Using them as a gauge i never actually bothered with the manual side(mainly as i was motorway driving), just left it in Auto mode.

    We shal have to see
