this is why method of detecting rpm is different and sometimes flakey.. can be done by "calibrating" roller speed to a fixed rpm in the test gear, or by tach pickup for actual rpm. or by plugging into cars electrics to see pulses on the 12v system...

wheelspin throws all sorts of weirdness into results as an apparent rapid change of rpm will have a significant effect on the subsequent calculation of power from the atw torque measured..

did I mention is can be a lottery?

What would you say then if his MAF readings showed highier than what he got on the dyno.

Which data would you use as a indication of what sort of power the engine is producing.

at one RR day i went to, the operator in the car had to get to the desire gear, the head up display told him to aim for 2000rpm, he pressed a button on a remote and then floored the gas

one car (mk2 golf 1.6 CARB, wiv cam.. (in joke)) made 105bhp, but at 6800rpm. just not plausible but because it has a graph attached its taken for gospel.

my own car on the day what i expected it to, at the revs i expected it to, peaks verified by gtech many times before

then some poor girl goes on, they get the rpm thing wrong (and didnt notice a coilpack sparking like mad under the bonnet) hers made the same power as mine when on the road we KNOW our cars are identical and hers weights a fair portion more than mine so by default would have to have more power.

so take it with a pinch of salt and use it for the purpose it was intended (not to tell you accurately how many bee haich pees you have)

I'm up for it, and if my car doesn't make exactly 252.64BHP, then it's not accurate, not even close! :)
