I still cannot find a setting I like. I am really frustrated now and was hoping to still not be adjusting jumpers etc at this stage.
Andrew has been very helpful with support but i now feel I cannot progress any further.

Now to decide to what to to with the box

I've just read what I posted last night and I think I'm maybe expecting too much...I'm trying to get the best economy so I'm driving like a fanny but also want more power ;-)

I'm pissing about at low revs in all gears and watching the dis mpg readout ;-) Tonight I just gunned it without looking at the dis and I got 37mpg over the same 6 miles.

It's 0 degrees 4 wheel drive with all the heating and lights on so on a 6 mile run 37-40mpg is pretty decent as the car is just about warmed up.

On a run last week I was seeing 50mpg average over a 70 mile run.

Map 2 +2 isn't sluggish if you put the foot down it's just that I've been driving slow. I'm going to try map 1 +2 again as it looks half way between map 2 & 3 but failing that I'll keep it on map 2 +2

I was talking to a friend today who can get me an hour on a rolling road for £40 after Christmas so i thing i will try a few different runs on different maps and see what the readouts say

Do you have a box available for the 2012 on A4 3.0 TDI Quattro 245ps,s-tronic?

He definitely does, that's what I'm running. On what is the basic setting you see noticable gains as well. Timed I was about 5.2-5.4 seconds (just me and a full fuel tank) to 62mph and about 12 seconds to 100mph in the same conditions. Not bad for an oil burner I don't think. :)

Trying out the economy box just now and will see how the economy compares on my next fill up. :) Feels good at low revs though, which is where I would generally sit for the economy. :)

But the simple answer is yes.

    Thanks for the reply.
Anything else you can tell me about the box? Good or bad? What are the claimed figures after fitting the box do you know?
Ive only had my 3.0tdi Quattro BE since last Thursday so would want to put at least 1k miles on her first!!
Are they really a simple DIY job?

Well in my experience it's been all good. At the end of the day as well, Andrew will happily chat with you about any issues you have whether it be the use of it or the fitting, just give him a shout! :)

The figures are probably a little optamistic with the DPF in place I'd say. I think it's something like 280bhp and 660Nm but I don't think you'd be getting that to be honest. I'd say that about 260bhp and 600-620Nm is a better guess. Regardless it's enough that you'll notice it both in the outright speed and economy. The extra power has to come from somewhere so provided you don't expect high economy while flooring it everywhere you'll be fine.

I fitted mine with 600 or 700 miles showing on the clock because I got impatient but there haven't been any issues because I'm conscious to let the car warm up and cool down. The only issue I had was when I turned the box up too high and punched it which made the EML come on. There is no error recorded though and by turning the box down a notch and turning the car on and off it's gone and just lets you know the limit of the tuning.

As for fitting, it really was a 5-10 minute job provided you don't have huge hands. Two plugs to undo and then find somewhere for the box to sit. Done. :)

    Hope that helps.

Oh and a good choice of car btw. ;)

Thanks again for the info mate.
How did you locate and secure yours in the engine bay?
Just been looking on their site and they have two kinds of boxes one of which shows higher gains, which do you have?

Im loving the car, test drove the C350 Merc and the new 330d M Sport and the Audi won by a country mile! The ride and interior was just so much better than the others. It was hard for me as I'm usually a BMW man!!

Got a cracking deal on the car and great service by Cheshire Oaks Audi aswell.

Just behind the passenger headlight there's a silver pipe that I'm guessing is for the A/C and I just strapped it on there. Never had any issues! :)

I actually have two, the highest gains box and the new economy one that I'm trying out for Andrew. Overall I'd say to ask him for the new eco-box because although it's billed for economy, it still has really decent gains when you're pushing it so you get the best of both worlds. If you speak to him about it he may be able to upload the outright power maps from the power box onto some of the map 'slots' on the eco-box if you're wanting as well. That way you can have both? Don't know if that's possible or not but worth speaking to him about it.

I have to admit I wanted the quattro so never even bothered with the others. Had enough of spinning tyres with the Astra VXR before the A4, nice to be able to put the power down but still get it sideways when you want. :)

Thanks again, hopefully Andrew might see the thread and add some more info to it.

So you've come from an Astra Vxr! I sold my Evo X last year which was running just over 400/400 fantastic car,but my commute to work has changed so needed something a little better on juice!!

I did indeed, it was rapid for what it was and sounded mental at full chat! Amazing...

Yeah, I'm doing much better on fuel than the VXR though, I'm sure that you're the same coming from the Evo. Haha.

Sorry im late to the party :)

Dan, we dyno'ed my A6 240ps (with dpf) last year and it produced 287bhp and 650nm running common rail only ;) so id expect the 245 to be 290/300bhp

As soon as the baby arrives and i have a free weekend ill be taking my Q7 to the dyno..

Anyway getting back to the A4 3.0TDI 245PS

As Dan's said we do offer a kit, and the fitting is pretty straight forward. Dan and myself (Q7 245PS) are currently trialling some new software (V3) which will probably form basis of the 4 maps we add to the CRD-T from now on.

Feel free to drop me a pm as we offer members of A-S special deals on our systems that arent available on our website

I stand corrected! But happily corrected I might add. ;)

I look forward to it then, are you going to run a few different maps and see how it changes the curve so long as the little one pops out before then of course? Haha. Would be good to see the differences.

And back on track, like he says, give Andrew a call and he'll happily discuss things with you. Some of the best customer service I've found pretty much anywhere. :)

I'm running a DTUK system on my A4 1.9 130 and it goes like absolute stink! I wouldn't have minded trying out the new eco system but it doesn't work with the PD engines for obvious reasons.

Is always fun when a 2.0 A4 tries pushing me out of the way on the motorway knowing he has more power and then I disappear in to the distance, though I will be screwed the day I meet a 170 with a CRD-T on :haha:

Glad to hear of another happy customer!

Do you recommend getting at least 1k miles under its belt before fitting a box? I`m only at 350 at the mo!

Tell me more about these special deals. ;-)

I had a 335d that was utuning boxed from 286 to 370 with 700Nm so i believe its absolutely achievable. Deisel is a completely differnt beat from petrol though.

    Any update on the Dyno?
One question I have, and I`m not trying to be funny, but why do other reputable tuning companies offer these boxes with the same gains etc for over £100 less?
Like I say,not being funny, but why would I pay £350 for an extra 50bhp when I can get it for £250??

Anybody added the box to their insurance? Mines currently off for the winter but interested to hear how much it adds to the premium.

My wife gave birth to our son last Thursday so no updates on the dyno

Most of these boxes you're talking about can be purchased in Europe for about 100 euros, and would cost us about 40 euros .

The only other place you can buy our systems is in Germany (manufacturer) where they retail for 699 euros

.so get you'reself onto German eBay and save yourself a few quid :) and ask these so called UK manufacturers who is actually making their systems

thats the same modes i my dads 320d twin turbo
( 2012 ) of its as good as that that is on an oem car I am getting one. Do you need the other box too or is the pedal box good enough ?
what BHP gains can be seen ?

The pedal box doesn't see any BHP gain as it's purely for throttle response and being able to more easily access the power that you have.

The tuning boxes are good and you can see significant gains though so you just have to decide which one (or both) you want.

in my dads bmw I am sure it makes the car quicker in sport mode
i am not sure exactly what happens but is is defo quicker.

so in essence will this make your car quicker ( I.e ) overtaking 30-60 ect
by making the throttle more responsive ?

I have seen a dyno on a golf with one fitted the the second run ( had ) on paper increased BHP think it was about +4
not 100% sure on who done the test but it was a golf gti 60 plate and think it was white.

I see what you're meaning, I don't know why that would be though. Possibly allowing for additional throttle to be applied somehow?

If you look on this page of theirs, How it works.., it states in big red letters 'No additional power, no additional stress on components, just better response'.
Don't know where the differences in power have come from on that, seems to be too much for just atmospheric conditions... :uhm:

As for the overtaking, I'm doubtful that he will put his foot flat to the floor to carry it out (although you never know! ;)) so the increased response will mean he's actually using more throttle than he thinks he is because of the non-linear nature of it when on sport mode. So will make the overtake seem faster... That's the only thing I can think of?

I drive the BMW a lot nearly as much as mine
I have done a test with my foot at 30mph and pressed sport and this ( tightens )
the throttle and is more of an instant push rather thank pushing the throttle harder ( but the revs are lower if that makes sence)
I know is uses less fule in Eco as its verry easy to stall. In sport you use less throttle and it pushes you in the seat (unsure if this uses 1 turbo in Eco and two on sport tho )

Yes, this will be the increased throttle response. :)

The Pedalbox unit definitely doesn't do anything to the engine power or turbos though. I took mine and used it on a mates S3 where it performed very nicely. If it did anything with the engine it wouldn't be compatible swapping from a 3.0Tdi V6 to a 2.0TFSI...

I had an Astra VXR prior to this that also had a sport button from factory. On that the power was constant (as tested by many on dyno days) but pushing the button allowed full throttle to be accessed more easily.

Some tuners could map on the back of the sport button so you did actually get more power and increased throttle response at the same time but the Pedalbox doesn't since it's just a plug in job communicating solely with the throttle signal.
