Another question from me this morning...

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with DTUK boxes in terms of the gains and how well they work? They state an increase from 240PS to 287PS and 500Nm to 640Nm (!!) with no hardware changes. This sounds like a big gain since the R8 V10 comes with 530Nm! Haha.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dan

DTUK are pretty good but i preferred the racechip from racechip.de.....Gains in diesel cars are pretty good and easily attained. My 335d went from 284hp to 360 with 700Nm torque. In sport mode it would spin the back wheels at 50 when the pedal was mashed. great fun and cheap power. It took a little setting up as it was adjustable and if you go too high you can get the engine management light coming on. Basically the car is just over fueling under hard acceleration and it needed tweaked down a little (5 min job). Very easy to fit and remove. About 20 mins start to finish and easily achievable for anyone with a little bit of mechanical ability.

They look good to and promise higher power levels but lower torque figures. Also, they state those are the maximum gains where as DTUK say that's the minimum level they have achieved so it is possible it could be even higher than that! I've also heard good things about DTUK's customer service so I'm understandably swayed. And they're cheaper to boot. Haha. I'll phone both of them before I buy anything of course... :)

We ran our own A5 and A6 3.0TDI 240PS this last year, and the figures on the website for the Audi 3.0 are based on dyno figures from our own A6 and a friends Touareg.

And ASN members can save £80 off the full rrp on all of our systems too.

That's perfect, thanks Andrew. I think that I'll put some miles on the new car and then give you a shout.

I didn't realise you were on here or I would have given you a shout direct! Haha. :)

Will there be any dpf issues with something like this, is it detectable by a dealer once removed?

Weve boxed over 150 2.0' and 3.0 Audi common ral engines without any dpf issues.

Once the system is removed, there are no traces left behind, plus no need to crack open our ecu like a remap.

Sorry to hi-jack, Andy what's the "stage 2" part mean on the CRD-T? Does the car need other mods?

Funnily enough this was the first thing I asked! Haha. Andy informed me that there were no required hardware changes so was still just plug and play. :)

One benefit of the box is when removed its undetectable unlike a remap. I have had them on all my diesel cars and they are so easy to fit and remove unlike the mapping which in my opinion is mre hassle. I wish i could get a plug and play for my B8 2.0 TFSi

Who did your remap? My ECU required removal and remapping directly to the pins. As soon as you try to flash the ECU via the OBDI port it wiped the ECU!!!!!!!! THat was with a REVO map

We already offer members an £80 discount on all of our systems, which is the highest amount of discount we offer on forums.

Our trade customers who buy systems in 10's do get them cheaper, so if we can get 5 names on a list i can book them out as "trade sales".

If youre interested please drop me a pm :)

The CRD-T is the system which connects to the common rail + boost sensor, and increases/controls the boost as well as the fuelling..

Some recent feedback from a 2.0TDI cr Owner below:

As for a tuning module for a 2.0 TFSI, we do have access to one ;)

I've get a CRD on my 2.0 TDI had it for about 2 or 3 months and love it. Serious change in the car. Wanted the box due to still having the Audi warranty.

Also recently purchased a pedal box from Andrew at dtuk and again really good product makes the car so much more responsive. Glad I got the box first then the pedal box a month or two later as I had time to experience the power and then increased throttle response.

Well I went ahead and bit the bullet today... After asking Andrew many (probably too many!) questions and him answering them all without resorting to shouting at me I went ahead and ordered myself one of these units.

As I said to him, the fact that he had just finished some development/tweeking on the maps for the same engine I'm buying for made me happy that he puts the effort in to continually make his product better. :) If the unit is as good as his patience, temperment and customer service then it will be amazing.

If anyone is thinking of ordering one of these I'd PM and see what kind of deal he can manage for you while he still can, you may be able to save some money and get some better power and MPG at the same time! Once on I'll see if I can't arrange a rolling road day to display the differences! ;)

I've just ordered one for my 2012 A4 Avant 2.0tdi 177 black edition quattro.
Should get it tomorrow I'm hoping its as good as the similar box I had on my MG ZT it made a big difference.

I don't know how you've been finding the mpg for that engine but since there are so many people having issues it might be worth letting us know if it improves things at all? :)

My brother is running a 2.0TDI 170PS Leon and hes seeing best results on Map 2 + 2.

Is your car brand new Ronnie? As we always advise having 1,000 miles on the clock before adding the system :)

The car is 5 months old and has done 5500 miles so it should be ok.
I'll not be hammering it I'm just curious to see what it does to the car.

I'm relatively happy with the standard car but couldn't resist a wee bit more power

It's hard to explain, the best person to speak to is andrew from Dtuk. It basically acts like a traditional sport button by making the throttle response sharper. It's got 3 modes sport, sport + and Eco. In each of these you can go up 3 or down 3 in sensitivity. I drive with Eco -3 (which is still more responsive than oem) when I fancy a blip or overtake quick switch to sport and it pulls so much quicker.

    Haha... Brilliant. :)

Well if it works anything like the sport button on my VXR it means in 'eco' mode if you physically push the pedal 50% down you will get 50% throttle, push it 75% and you get 75% throttle and everything in between for example. When activated, my sport mode changes how much throttle it gives you for a given physical travel of the pedal. So pushing it down 50% may now be giving you 80% throttle and pushing 75% down on the pedal may give 100% throttle.

Basically it seems like the travel of the pedal and the throttle position can be made non-linear, unlike if you had a traditional cable operated pedal/throttle (unless you used some pulleys or something of course...).

I hope that makes some amount of sense and I haven't just gone into engineer mode and sound like nothing more than a dribbling wreck to everyone else! Haha.

I bet! People make jokes about the build quality and such of the Astra VXRs but when they get to stage 2 or 3 they are seriously fast if you can put the power down so you can dispute the outright speed of the little four pots. :)

Both me and Jen had Astra VXR's, add a Remus exhaust and they sounds mental...

Im liking the sound of your car actually Dan, i love my S4 avant and hold the 3.0 Audi TDI in high regard. Im hoping theyll offer the BiTDI in the A4 once BMW introduce the 335/340d ;)

That would be my next car for sure.

Thanks Andrew. My thinking was that for an extra £1.5k or so I could have had the S4 but the insurance and running costs are significantly higher as well. The 3.0 Tdi is a good little engine from what I've experienced and with your box running at 640Nm (only 20Nm shy of a Lambo Mucielago I found out!!) it should provide more than enough punch for the UK roads. :)

I agree that the BiTdi would be stupidly fast in the A4, I think the only problem is that I'd have to weigh up the £4.6k price hike it brings from my current engine, provided it's the same difference as on the current A6. I wonder what kind of power and torque you could get out of that block... ;)

Andrew any idea what my unit was settings my unit was sent with? I think it's map 2 and zero. I'm assuming if I move the rh jumper two places to the left ill be at map2 plus 2 as per your recommendations

Do the DTUK boxes work OK with multitronic gearbox? Will it make the standing start lag better or worse?

It's ok I fitted the unit tonight pretty straight forward. The main problem was deciding where to mount the unit as there are no instructions for this!

I've only been out for a 20 mile run but first impressions are good. Definitely a lot more oomph above 2k rpm in fact that's not doing it justice it flies from 2k to 4k rpm.
