Hi, I'm going to do my DSG service this weekend and I'm wondering if it matters what temperature the transmission is during the initial drain. I know it has to be 35*-45* when draining the excess but what about draining the old oil? Thank you.

Cold is better as it should ideally be less than 30 when you start running it up to temperature

I did mine cold and it was fine. It doesn't really matter as long as you let it drip out but cold is better.

Thank you both. I was going to do it after sitting overnight so that's good to know.

Have a look at @TimWills you Tube video, he explains it in detail.

I drained mine from warm/hot (after a 20 mile drive to work). Left it to drain for an hour while I did some other bits. By the time I'd filled it back up it was bang on 30C.
