Does anyone know of an ignition switched (or better 'on when the engines running') 12v line suitable for switching DRLs under the bonnet?
I'm trying to avoid running a wire through the firewall for it.

    Thanks,
    Iain.

    Not true......

I run mine off an 15amp 'Ignition live' fuse from within what I believe is the ecu box - very back left of the engine bay. That said it includes a 10 second 'over-run' where the lights stay on after you've removed the key :icon_thumright:

But I think you'd agree, you shouldnt just tap a circuit without knowing its usage as it could cause all kinds of issues.

No I don't agree to be honest, and nor did I say that didn't know what the one I tapped into does.....

In general I'm discussing, not specifically a certain light source used & unless I'm blind, you stated "There's a bank of fuses under ther, dunno what they do" which to me denotes you were referring to all of them as you wernt specific, also the op could be referring to halogens or led's, wasnt specific although most likely led's, so best reply really would be to not tap an existing circuit without knowing its rating, its usage & if its safe to add any load to it, hence use a new fuse point for any aftermarket additions for safety/peace of mind sake.

I know I wouldnt want a critical system to blow a fuse in middle of nowhere with no spares lol.

I agree, which is why mines not wired on the fused side of the terminal, and the DRL circuit is separately fused.........and hence it doesn't matter what the fuse feeds.

    Seems we're both right :icon_thumright:
