Dreaded disc unreadable message

So my rns-e has the disc unreadable message when closed. It plays cds but for some reason wont do anything else like sat nav or update discs.

Any ideas? Thinking of cleaning the lens tomorrow as read that could help. Any ideas folks?

Had the very same problem. Cleaned the lense with some alcohol wipes and never had any issues after that

i cleaned mine a couple of weeks ago after getting read errors with my self-made 2014 disc (the OEM 2006 disc worked fine).

just opened the unit up, gave the lens a dab with a cotton bud, moistened slightly with my own saliva lol. then dried it off with a dry cotton bud. just kind of spun the bud around so it whizzed over the lens.

has worked fine ever since so defo give it a try

Looks like thats todays job. Just need to get some removal keys to get the head unit out.
