    Hello guys

I have been looking forward to upping the power a little on my A3 after a freind with a 1600 16v polo gti left me for dead which was slightly :asskicking: to say the least coming from a 280 bhp astra vxr... Bad times...

So i got in touch with JBS about thier dpf delete pipe and custom code but they dont do a delete pipe for the quattro model so its not looking good, what i would like to know is there any other solution to it and if there was can i fit a miltek exhaust as well as i cant find them anywhere either?

I am totally bamboozled with it to be honest and need help :crying:

JBS can do it but it will be a custom job and will cost alot more its around £1200 for full miltek dpf delete and remap.

You can also get the 2.0tfsi quattro miltek exhaust and cut that to fit as the tips stick out quite far.

All i have done is remap and deleted the back box and im extremely happy with the results :D sounds amazing!

If you can get hold of one, get a 2nd had dpf downpipe, open it up and gut the DPF and re-weld it back up, then get it remapped/dpf delete. It not "flow" as well as the miltek but it's not going to lose much power vs the miltek (the dpf is just like a smaller silencer, and without the dpf filter it's like a striaght through silencer then).

Surpried a 1.6 polo "left you for dead" unless it was from standing start? I'd imagine a 170 would be similar but breeze ahead around 80.

Although the quattro does dampen it a little but you may also have the infamous "150bhp" VAG remap. I believe my TDI 170 has this as it is definitely not as quick as my old 170 but it returns great mpg (my old 170 was relatively thirsty but was a bit quicker).

Hey thanks mate that is very informative and the stickers look cool mate!

What i am hoping i can do is gut the DPF and then just map it via a hand held rather than travelling south as im in the highlands which to the royal mail is the moon lol

That was rolling mate he has done it twice now, i mean once your up there i am slowly creaping towards him but i would say the 170 (or at least my one) would only have a top speed of 120mph?!

150 map? Oww well i have driven a 140 fwd and it felt quicker and a friend who has an a4 hurse fwd 170 also feels alot quicker, i have managed to avoid him...

I have scanned the car with my vag com and it comes back all clear, perhaps there is a problem within the engine bay?!

I wondered how long it would be until you popped up navnayyer with yet another plug for fr+r tuning. I am sure you must work for them.

Ahh. My trip to work is 6 miles ish. It is on a bit of duel track so i'm at 70 for about 5 mins. Am i going to need to go on a regular blast every week to stop me getting sooted up or is it not as bad as that perhaps once a month??.
I only do about 4k a year!?. Or should i be looking at the above removal of said filter.
Oh and where is the warning light positioned on the instrument cluster out of interest?? Is it illuminated when ignition is on as i'm dammed if i can find it.
Aplogies in advance but this oil burning lark is all new to me :)

I do at least 15k a year mate, you will know when you get the DPF light mate its a massive orange/yellow symbol in the middle of your dash and the car looses a little bit of oomph and splutters a little bit.

I would say my one is due to the miles i do, my car is knocking on 85k now and i have a friend who does similar miles yet he has never had an issue but his car has way less miles at 35k so i think its just that time now that it needs changed or binned for me.

I would hazard a guess that you have studied this paulie as i know you only fit the best to your baby, i will do some researching this afternoon.

The Exhaust issue seems to be something i need cleared up now?!

Can i fit a 140 miltek with some modifications??

The DPF butchering is not a problem i will sort that myself and i can weld for scotland to lol

You'll have a PD engine. CR engines are fitted 09 / 10 onwards (I think)

Yeah one end of the scale to the other. I was just under the impression that short journeys were far worse for them and want to try and prevent a clog up before i get to having a light on :) Prevention better than cure and all that.

Yes Dave you are 100% correct the short trips are killer, what happens with me is i will be on a long trip say 200 miles and then i will be taking the girlfriend to work and nipping home for lunch then nipping out to the shop and after a few days it will start to splutter.

It annoys me slightly i bought it to save money on fuel but its actually pretty **** on fuel with the dpf issue and its slow as well so deleting the DPF will hopefully not use so much fuel on regens and gain some power and i will be a happy boy lol (for a little bit) :)

Just for your info I do 4 miles to work up an 800 foot hill (joys of living in the valleys!) In 6,000 miles I've not had any DPF troubles (hugs large tree). Although every other week / weekend I do a longish journey at motorway speeds.

I'm also looking at a remap / DPF removal and have been chatting to these guys CARBON CHIP TUNING Hoping to have a good long chat with them on Saturday about which route to take :)

Im from the highlands myself mate so its all up n down here to, my gut feeling is my DPF is hooped so the cost of a new one is more than a remap and delete :) so think i know what i will be doing :) Just need the info and best routes.

Let us know how you get on with Carbon mate i would be interested in what they have to offer.

Think what i will do is get roughly the best names and call them all then decide from there answers...

Will do :icon_thumright: The option they've suggested to me is to fit a DPF delete pipe rather than gut your existing one in case MOT rules change and you end up having to have one fitted to pass. That way, if needs be, you still have the DPF to refit to pass the MOT...

With regards to JBS; I'm sure someone will correct me, but I think they were the first, if not one of the first people to offer a DPF delete package

Ahh right got ya now mate, so the pipe they talk of where do we get one of them as JBS and Miltek dont do one for the quattro 170 instead i think the carry out some keyhole surgery on the existing pipe :)

That i don't know mate. You could talk to a local exhaust specialist near you and enquire as to what they could design / build  Mine's not a Quattro so I haven't got that issue
