Down pipe and de cat pipe

    Hi can someone tell me if I fitted a new down pipe and de cat would I get any lights come on in the dash? That would need to be turned off as I'm looking into getting one

    What engine code have you got? The AMK and BAM engines has post cat lambda sensors that will throw the engine check light on the dash with a de-cat.

    ive got a 3inch down pipe and decat and i fitter a lamder spacer and the light never came on , mine is an amk

    its a fitting you screew in to the lamder hole and it pulls the lamder out of the flow so it thinks there is a cat there

    Like others have said, on AGU no EML light will pop up.

    where can you get these from? will it go into limp mode if it throws a wobbly?

    You won't get limp mode just a engine light onthe dash.

    I got my 3" de cat and down pipe today, which section would I have to put the lamber sensor in?

    lambda goes in the first section... it will be easy to notice as this will be in a similar position as the one you remove... :)

    Not for the main lambda... you only need a spacer for the post cat lambda if you actually have one which I don't believe you have...

    The pre cat lambda is used by the ECU to help control fuelling on idle and part throttle... the post cat lambda is used for checking the effectiveness of the cat which is why they throw a code when decat's are fitted as it thinks the cat is faulty..

    I suspect you won't need to worry about this...

    Tufty, in a hugely rare shocker you got pre and post the wrong way round. get some rest dude, it's been a long week!

    Cool, ok so I just undo the lamber sensor from the cat and screw it into the first hole on the new dp and decat and would I notice any difference with a de cat and dp

    Hopefully going to do this today, best it best to put wd40 on all the bolts to help loosen them, as I would hate to snap a stud off on the turbo, when fitted will I notice much in regards to being a bit more responsive as it will be less restrictive

    fitted mine only last week, threw no codes up and well i noticed a difference, although my stids was that tight the nuts had to be heated up to get the original one off, but definatley well worth it, i also fitted a 1.9tdi boxless centre section with little modification, and already had the back box and totally different in sound and is alot more responsive,

    Got mine on, but we're the centre section goes into what would of been the cat is blowing, so I'll have to take it to exhaust place tomorrow to get what I'm hoping would just be a new clamp as I don't the amateur thing and used the old clamp

    Had the new clamp fitted this morning from the decay to the center section, now when I'm driving I can hear a whistle from the turbo , is this normal as the pipe is a lot bigger so breathing better? I done all bolts as tight as I could so shouldn't be blowing from the turbo

    Mine makes a bit more noise too and am pretty sure mine is not blowing so i think its just as you said its the better breathing ability making more noise :)

    Has anyone else had problems with the decat keep blowing where it's clamped to the center section? I had a new clamp put on last Monday and I've just got home and noticed that its blowing again, hoping to jack it up tomorrow and tighten the clamp up, had have noticed small amount of vibration in the exhaust since fitting dp and decat

    not had any probs with mine, and i used the old clamp, as it has already shaped to my exhaust as such, did you put any exhaust paste on

    Is it ok to fit a decat and downpipe on my AGU before i have had it stage 2 re-mapped? I have fitted it and now doesn't seem to pull as well as before :/ any thoughts?

    shouldnt be anything to do with your decat pipe , if anything it should let it breathe more than before,

    Thanks pthackeray22, Im already running a stage 1 revo map but didn't fit the decat/downpipe until after it was done. So this shouldn't be making the car less responsive?

    possibly.... you may need to go get your map tweaked , or stick with what you know and put your cat back on, im sure the tuffty a3/s3 guru will be along at somepoint today and will shed some more light,

    Any recommendation for back boxes? Thought my decat was blowing but turned out to be a small hole in the rear box which after 5 mins of letting it warm up to go out on Sunday the pipe from the box to the center section has snapped in two

    The Miltek systems are a popular choice on here. I have a Miltek cat back system and I love it. You can pick up a full system for around £300 on eBay 2nd hand if you keep your eyes peeled.
