door not closing properly

car is a 2000 1.8t avant

my passenger door sometimes does not properly close and shows on the on screen display as open. the car has had no damage or had no repairs and the locks seem to be functioning fine, it's just happens sometimes. It does close but just not tightly, an extra pull from the inside usually does it but I want to put it right.
any ideas?

try looking at the door light switch it is either dirty or faulty it shouldn't cost to much to replce.

would that stop it closing properly ot just leave the light on?

door closes but not all the way, needs an extra pull or push to get the extra few mm or so to get fully closed

sorry misread.
could be the striker plate has shifted Mine was similar when i bought it. If its too tight the latch does not engage. May need letting out about a Mil. worked on mine.
