door hinge - help

Has anyone had a problem with their door hinge making a cracking sound when you open and shut it. It just started today and the door has had no bangs or been slammed, what a ****** annoying noise. Tryed oil and spray grease still no joy. Help

I got this a lot on my old Golf IV GTi

You need to use spray grease on the door check strap thing (technical hey).
It's just below the bottom door hinge (I think) and has three metal rolers on it that hold the door at three different openings.
