Just a warning if you are currently looking for an Audi S3 ..... dont buy a Ming Blue 2001 one with registration Y426 OJM....

It was recently sold on ebay (very cheaply!) and I had been emailing him about it - he then claimed that the high bidder had backed out because of some dead pixels on the DIS. The car looked great.... 1 previous owner, all original, 66k miles etc etc and apparently HPI clear. We agreed a price last night on the phone but I decided to get my own HPI done for peace of mind. Found out that according to the national mileage register (NMR) this 66k car with supposedly FSH from Audi had actually done 62k miles when it was only a year old in 2002, and 108k miles by 2004.... so I would guess it must be knocking on 130k now. I checked the NMR info with Audi and their service records info confirmed it.

I wasnt going to post this, but I hate the idea of anyone getting stung. Also, the bloke has ignored phone and email since, so I'm guessing he knew.... which really ****** me off. I also notice that the "high bidder" that supposedly backed out is also registered in Surrey, and also bid on one of his other auctions recently so I am suspecting it is the same person or a mate.

There genuinely are bargains about, and I took too long deciding on a very genuine one owner 2002 one at an extremely low price recently. However, there are plenty of dodgy ones about too!

Thanks for the warning.
These cars generally wear very well, so it can be hard to spot high milers sometimes. Not that high mileage is always a problem, but lying about it certainly is.

Cheap skate as well listing it in the car parts category.

Ah - do people do that to save money?! It seems to drastically reduce the number of hits it gets, and therefore the sale price, becauase a lot of people would just search within 'cars'.

I now always get my own HPI done instead of trusting one that someone else provided. The advert for the blue S3 said HPI clear and if I hadnt done my own it would now be sitting on my drive!

The seller still hasnt responded so is clearly well dodgy... I'd initially given the benefit of the doubt that he may not have known the car was clocked.

That's up to them, but if it stops some poor sod buying a clocked car then it's worth it.

That red S3 was onyl bought by him 25th of October for £7200. Hmm..

Lucky you did your own HPI. I guess if you can clock a car you can fake a HPI.

Do the good thing and report him if he is selling a clocked car let alone shill bidding.

Ebay is great untill some one has to take advantage of it! I think ebay just ban the user, then how easy is it to register another!

I bought a central locking motor off ebay and the guy sent it to me wraped in a single layer of bubble wrap! Yes you can guess it wasn't in a working order when it arrived!

Sorry still bitter

: (

Drivers seat is usualy a good sign of a high-miler, especialy with the black leather
lots of creases / wrinkles = lots of miles!!

yeh but if hes lied about the milage and HPI, what other secrets lie inside...

I'd have it. Me no bothered but high mileage.

Yeah, as cjhill says, that's not the point. I'll bet the car is still nice to drive etc and looks great - I'm not against high mileage but I am against a car that has been clocked and has a false service history. I surprised that you're not...

Could be wrong here but,Not so long ago i was looking at buying an Escort S1 turbo and was in contact with someone buy the name of raj(London area) We went down to have a look and fair enough all looked well very nice example of an S1,opens the bonnet and a few things didn't add up,turns out the car was an Mk3 escort with all the Series 1 turbo parts fitted I.E...Chassis number,Vin number etc,the fact that the shells are different was what gave it away,Basically this sound like another dodgy set up to me.
Rant over !!!!

The dirty *******.

Oh, nice of 'Raj' to list the mobile number - let the random calls begin!

Raj is a different name to the bloke that I nearly bought from. He could have bought it, but equally well it could be a false name or selling on behalf of someone else. It's the same pics as were on ebay....
