I've been having that old "do you remember....." conversation with a guy at work.

A few blasts from the past came up but this one really took me back.

    Anybody remember it???

I've blanked out the name to see if you lot recognise it.

And this is how you loaded the games:

And this is how the screen looked for the 10 minutes it took to load stuff:

 Yeah you might be mate.

I had the Amiga too (it was much better than the Atari ST), but it was state of the art compared to the system in my first post.

Yeah I think the spectrum came out around the same time as the commodore 64.

All I can remember about the spectrum was Horace Goes Skiing!

Ha, Commodore 16 is where it's at, proper blocky graphics, it was all about the gamplay... if you can call it that! I didn't own one though, my cousin did, and we caned it!

My first computer was an Amstrad CPC 464 with greenscreen monitor! It last only 30 minutes before I blew it up!! lol, wrong fuse in the plug killed it!... no problems though, took it back to Toys 'R' Us for a full refund saying it didn't work. haha

Commodore Amiga 500, I still have one of these, I wonder if it still works? Games on the floppy disks are probably all corrupt by now.

Commodore VIC 20 took the biscuit! I swear you had to wind it up to make it work.

Speaking of Toy R Us..... do you remember that back in the day you had to leave all your bags at the entrance before they let you in, in case you nicked stuff??
Or maybe that was just in the London stores!

I still have my old Commodore VIC 20 in the loft, kept hold of it hoping it may become a collectors item, but it appears the power supply is the most valuable part of it.

I've still got a Spectrum Plus (48k, had a proper keyboard rather than the rubber one of the original) in the box with a load of games and a joystick. Again, might be valuable one of these days!

Tidying out mum's loft last month and found a football game called 'Striker' from 1970 that was my brothers. A bit like Subbuteo. That was all still boxed and looked barely played with - worth £80 plus!

Is that the one with the "player" pieces on tiny plastic discs, and a disc for a ball, making the game effectively a football version of tiddly-winks? If it was, I had that for Christmas 1970. It was brilliant!

    Oh my...what memories...

My cousin had a Commodore Vic 20, then it got nicked, so he got a C64, whilst we had the Spectrum 48k, then the 128k.

We then moved onto an Amiga and Atari ST, still have the ST somewhere and a brand new boxed Speccy 48k....again in the hope that they will be worth something one day.

Another cousin had a BBC Micro and then an Amstrad CPC464, that was awesome....

Then the era of the Consoles came in......and the fun still hasnt stopped.

Loved the C64, my bro had one of these. I had a commodore +4, and remember playing icicle works lol.

Then had a amstrad cpc464, then an Amiga 500+ which was awesome! Moved into the pc world then with my 386 with 32mb ram and a 40 mb hard disk!

    Happy days!

Double Dragon and New Zealand Story arcade games made me a broke/poor child. I think I might have actually been addicted. Like genuinely addicted.

Ah Jet Pac Willy - I remember that one

Not wishing to give away my age - but my first programming was on Graphite Recognition Cards, Like punched cards but you used a pencil to mark the column / rows. That was for my Computer Science O-Level though at school, we then got the first RML 380Z in our London Borough and loaded the Basic interpretor from casette. - those were the days - NOT.

Nope, this had figures where when you pushed their head down there leg moved and they could kick the ball. Figures are about 2inches high

Jet set willy, ah, the memories
That and Blue Max, they were the best games i had
Chase HQ kept crashing as i remember.

My first Personal Computer was a zx81, i had a proper keyboard and a 16k ram pack. I also remember we had to mute the sound on the main tv when we loaded games otherwise it would crash the computer.

Does anyone remember that football game, it was a machine that had 5 little joysticks on either end of the table and the players had little joysticks on them??

    Used to love it.

Don't know if it's the same one but I had a footy game like that. Each player had their own little joystick. You pushed it forward and back to make the players run up and down the pitch (they were on runners in slots) and twisted it to make them spin and kick the ball.
For corners and throw ins there were little holes with a small mechanism inside which made the ball pop out back onto the pitch.

I remember the BBC computer, if you unplugged the leads from the little recorder that loaded it up you would hear it screeching through the tv.

Pac man was cool, space invaders, f1 which was pants and a game I think called ghosts and ghouls, was brilliant...
