dmf failure

    hi i was wondering if any body could describe the symptoms of a failing dual mass fly wheel ie is it like a normal clutch slipping and engine speed increasing without going any faster is there any noises associated with dmf failure any info would be welcome

    The DMF tends to get very noisy on uptake of load, and when they fail complely you lose all drive iirc

    I had a DMF fail on me in my Mrs's car, suffice to say it sounded like the bottom end of the engine had destroyed its self it had massive judder and clattering.

    Upon inspection the flywheel face had seperated form its rubber mounting to the rear flywheel and had rotated over the bolt caps to remove the unit.

    noisy as hell, no smooth engagement of the clutch
