I have replaced oil pumps on 2.0T petrols before at work. Mine is having shaft due to cog damaged not oil pressure!

Right, sorry has taken while to reply, but got car back few weeks ago. Got told oil pump failed again, they replaced that and started the car but still rattling noises coming from the engine, they stripped the car apart again and they eventually came back said I needed a new engine and pretty much everything linked to the engine I.e. turbo and all.

got it all done after weeks of waiting ALL FOR FREE so I would call that a result and a half! Whilst it was in garage, I got an A5 3l tdi Quattro as a courtesy car which I also had to pay not a penny for....

Hi guys, I have had the same problem on a 2006 A4 2.0TFSI Quattro S Line Special Edition. BUL engine code.

Car is on my driveway and was only driven for a minute or so once light came on. No snapped belts, oil loss and engine doesnt seem seized. Hoping can drop sump change pick up pipe and maybe oil pump and not need a new engine!

I'm only a very amateur home mechanic tho so even dropping the sump on my own may be a task too far!

Be sure to get the right torque settings and get rid if slack/backlash from gears etc else you get a rattle.

Thanks Chris, there is going to be a lot to do but the more hints and tips I can get the better. If I take it on myself I will approach it slowly and post lots of pics, and probably ask for lots of advice!

Loving your Imola Yellow DTM by the way, never seen one in that colour.

Thanks. Quite lucky with it all. I spoke to the audi specialist who replaced the oil pump when it first went and he basically filled me into how much I would have been charged by a dealership if I had to pay. Kinda glad I got told the price after I got it done!

On another note Chris, loving the wheels too.
I got my wheels on my dtm into black and make such a difference. I have black ed Phantom black DTM.
its going in for service then full machine polish etc so will try to get some pictures stuck up when I can.

Right, made some (slow) progress on mine today. Got all the (16) sump bolts off and a few other large bolts which looked like they needed to come off. Had to loosen the engine mounts and remove the air con pipe to do this. Also remove oil sensor from bottom of sump and oil pipe on drivers side.

Despite this I cant get the sump off! Does it use a 'wet gasket' and is effectively stuck to the block? If so HOW do I get it off??

    Thanks

Have found this picture online and wonder if there are some more bolts hiding up here that I need to remove?

    Hi chaps, sorry to bump an old thread, but can anyone offer any advice to an amateur mechanic! I have been away for a few weeks but decided to have another go at the car today. Engine mount bolts removed, engine jacked up to create more room but I still cant really see or get to the two bolts in the bell housing. I have found this DIY guide here;

transwindow.jpg Photo by hosickjg | Photobucket

Which suggests moving the flywheel until you can see the bolts better. Well I have tried turning the flywheel but it doesnt have any gaps in it! It's teeth all the way round!

I also understand from the guide linked to that it is a 5mm hex or allen key I need, can anyone confirm if that is correct? Car is a 2006 Audi A4 2.0T

Thanks in advance for any help! One frustrated (amateur) mechanic!
