Anybody any ideas?

I have a 2004 2.0 TDI (BKD) A3 that is difficult to start when cold, and also when hot (but not AS difficult).

If I disconnect the ECT the car starts like a boss. Revs up to 1200 rpm then drops back down to idle on startup. When ECT connected it struggles to start, and when it does just goes to 900 rpm and stays there.

This is really doing my head in; Have been down loads of avenues of problems, but cant seem to pinpoint or get any decent info out of Audi.

???

Just logged the engine cranking whilst starting in VCDS, and got the following:

3.33 ;147
3.69 ;336
4.05 ;210
4.39 ;252
4.75 ;252
5.11 ;294
5.45 ;462
5.81 ;1197
6.17 ;966
6.51 ;903
6.85 ;840
7.17 ;819
7.53 ;819
7.87 ;819
8.21 ;840
8.57 ;819
8.91 ;840
9.24 ;840
9.60 ;840
9.96 ;819
10.30 ;819

This looks like the starter motor isnt cranking great at the start?

Does anybody with a 2.0 TDI have VCDS that could just test a log whilst cranking for me to compare?

Cheers

Mine had been doing it, just replaced battery now it's spot on so could be worth a try
