My A3 1998 is having an occasional problem with the door. It would appear that the interior light doesn't go off sometimes. The solution is to open/close the door again.

Where is the switch located to register that the door has been closed?
    Any thoughts?

I get this, and i think it's a common problem. Haven't read anything that solves the problem yet though.

Doesn't do it when it's cold though, weird?

Happened to mine and it was driving me mad /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/froggie_red.gif apparently its the switch in the door lock/catch.

It was only when the sun was on the door /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif and wouldnt allow me to set the alarm when playing up.

Dispite being told it was likley to cost me in the region of £300, my local Audi specialist renewed the door catch for £79.00 which has now solved the problem /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/groovy.gif
